15 Months Salary Arrears: Edo LG Boss Clears The Air, Says ‘I Inherited 18 Months’


The Chairman, Orhiomwon Local Government Council of Edo State, Hon Sylvester Okoro, has debunked the rumour making the rounds that the Council is owing it’s staff fifteen months salary in  arrears.

Recall that an online video had gone viral early January alleging that the Council is owing it’s workers fifteen months salary arrears.It also alleged that the workers do not want to talk for fear of victimization.

Reacting, the LG boss said his administration inherited eighteen months salary arrears from the previous administrations.

He, however, pointed accusing fingers to his political foes, angling to take over from him.

According to him, the people behind the video are those in  opposition party trying to take over from him and they should be reminded that that is not how to play politics.

“I am happy that the person who did the video mentioned that the problem started from the administration of Adams Oshiomhole to the administration of Godwin Obaseki.

“We are not owing fifteen months salary arrears in Orhiomwon Local Government,it is the opposition party that is plotting to take over in the Council.I have been telling people that I inherited this problem.
Infact, I inherited eighteen months salary arrears from my predecessors,” He concluded.
