2022 World Cup: You’ve Changed Face Of Nigerian Football, Resign Now, Ex-Super Eagles Star Tells Pinnick

Published

on

Former Super Eagles goalkeeper, Peterside Idah has urged Amaju Pinnick, President of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF), to resign his position following Nigeria’s failure to qualify for the 2022 FIFA World Cup in Qatar later this year.

Idah said that Pinnick had changed the face of Nigerian football since he has been in charge of the NFF since 2014.

According to him, Pinnick’s claim that his family doesn’t want him to vie for a third term in office is not strong enough, as Nigeria missing out on this year’s World Cup should be enough reason for him not to vie for office again.

Recall that the Super Eagles of Nigeria failed to qualify for the World Cup after losing to the Black Stars of Ghana last month.

Pinnick had earlier this week claimed that he won’t be vying for a third term as NFF President because his time in the glasshouse has taken a toll on his relationship with his family.

”He (Pinnick) changed the face of Nigerian football. He brought integrity into Nigerian football.

”He once said any NFF President that can’t qualify for the World Cup should resign. So it’s enough reason for him not to contest again,” Idah said on Soccer Africa on Supersport.

Former Manchester United striker, Dimitar Berbatov, has named the team that could “surprise” Arsenal in the Premier League title race.

The Gunners are now six points clear of second-placed Chelsea, thanks to their 4-1 demolition of Tottenham on Sunday.

Mikel Arteta’s men could extend that lead to nine points, when they travel to face the Blues this weekend.

Berbatov has now said he expects Arsenal to be “really tested” over the hectic festive period and says their title credentials will become clearer in the New Year.

Of course Liverpool are low in the table and Man City are dropping points, but there are other teams like Chelsea who can surprise people,” Berbatov told ESPN.
