A group, under the aegis of ‘Bauchi Youth Control Center’ (BYCC), has called on All Progressive Congress (APC) at all levels to consider the immediate past Chief of Air Staff, Air Marshal Sadique Abubakar for 2023 governorship candidate in the state.
Alhaji Babangida Ajiya, the BYCC Chairman who made the call at a press conference on Monday in Bauchi ,said Air Marshal Saddique Abubakar is fit to be governor of Bauchi state based on his tract records of achievements.
He said it was based on his records while he was the Chief of Air Staff that the group found him capable, hence their call on the ruling APC at the National, State, Local Government and wards to consider him for governorship candidate.
Ajiya stated that their support for Saddique Abubakar was anchored on four key pillars of ‘proven performer’, ‘public servant with wholesome track record’, ‘pragmatic reformer’ and ‘prudent manager of resources’.
“Many people are yearning for the Air Saddique for Governor. We don’t have to overblow the trumpet, many have all have seen his developmental strides across the country and Bauchi state, since 2015 to 2020
“By statistics, we recorded over 900 completed and 156 ongoing projects in Airforce formations and public places across the country.
“In Bauchi alone, he established Nigeria Airforce Base, with state-of-the-art hospital , school, swimming pool, special training center, befitting accommodation for officers and Special Operations command among others,” he said
The Chairman stressed that The former Air Marshal has wisdom to develop and govern people, saying “we want to benefit from his wealth of experience of leadership to steer the state and replicate the same in Bauchi.
“We are appealing to our elders, religious, raditional leaders, Business Associations and the youths to please forget party differences and join forces and rally round Air Marshall Saddique so that he contests and win the governorship” Ajiya said.
He also pointed out that the group would after the Ramadan period commence Mass mobilization and sensitization of campaign volunteers across the state for the cause.
