2023: Oshiomhole’s Aspiration Will Spell Doom For APC In Edo North, Group Warns

A group under the aegis of ‘Team Alimikhena’ has said that aspiration of former governor of Edo, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole for senate in 2023 general election would polarise the party in Edo North Senatorial Fistrict of the state.
The group stated this in a press statement jointly signed Mr. Sunny Ifijen, convener and Mr Omeiza Ogumah, secreatary and made available to newsmen in Benin on Thursday.
The group expressed fear that a repeat of what happened in the 2020 governorship election where party members of the All Progressives Congress (APC) worked at cross purpose may repeat itself in Edo North in 2023.
They said though people of the senatorial district accept Oshiomhole’s leadership, but reject his aspiration for the senatorial seat.
They said the rejection of his aspiration was so because the people want the Incumbent, Senator Francis Alimikhena back in the senate as a form of compensation for his wonderful work in addition to keeping the party together in the district.
The group called on the former APC national chairman to take the back stage and continue with his kingmakers role rathan than contest in the 2023 general election.
“Oshiomhole should not allow himself to be dragged into Edo North Senatorial race and be disgraced at the end of the day.
“To yield to the desire of some self interest seeking individuals, may cost him the respect his supporters accord him.
“Just like they convinced against the wish of the masses, to field the incumbent governor of the state, Godwin Obaseki in the 2016 who later turned out to be albatross to the party leadership and its supporters, they have started in their selfish ways. (Sic)
“They have opened their fangs again to destroy the peace that has existed in the party in Edo North by trying to convince Oshiomhole to dethrone a performing Senator in the person of Francis Alimikhena.

“They are not just bent on convincing the former governor to run, but they are trying in an unusual way to sow seed of discord in the harmonious relationship the two have shared over years.
“To me, this unnecessary bickering and distrust that have rare its head because of this selfish persons can be put to rest if Oshiomhole decline to yield to their selfish demands.
“Indeed, Oshiomhole’s leadership role in the party, especially in Edo North, has been the largely responsible why the party remains strong in the district and must not throw this away without stopping to reason what the effect of this demand would cost the party,” the statement stated.

Rivers: Fubara Cancelled 10,000 Jobs I Initiated For Youths – Wike Alleges

The Minister of Federal Capital Territory, FCT, Nyesom Wike, has accused Governor Siminalayi Fubara of Rivers State cancelling an employment process undertaken by his (Wike’s) administration which engaged 10,000 youths of the state.
Wike made this allegation on Wednesday at Ahoada main Town, during the ‘Renewed Hope Family thank you visit’ to Ahoada East Local Government Area.
He said his administration had employed 10,000 youths into different sectors of the state’s economy, but regretted that Fubara, his successor, sacked the beneficiaries.

He slammed Fubara for claiming the construction of Ahoada-Omoku and Emohua-Kalabari Road, which he said he had made 70 percent payment before handing over, describing the governor as “a bad child”.
“When I decided to dualise this Ahoada road, people thought it was impossible. But by the grace of God, today, Ahoada East, Ahoada Town, is coming back to be the city it is supposed to be. When I was a narcissist, I finished phase one of this dualisation.

“Then I flagged off phase two, which would end up in Omoku. The job was given the same day as the one of Emohua to the Kalabari area.
“I gave it to Julius Berger and we signed an agreement for Julius Berger to collect N4 billion every month from our IGR. The total amount of that road, and the one from Emohua to the Kalabari area, was about N80 something billion. So I said, if they collect four billion every month, that would give them 48 billion. That in two years time, they would have completed,” Wike said.
