…Says Tinubu has failed, regrets backing APC in 2015

Political group Team New Nigeria (TNN) announced on Sunday its decision to break away from the ruling All Progressives Congress (APC) and form a new political party aimed at unseating President Bola Ahmed Tinubu in the 2027 elections.

The National President of TNN, Modibbo Yakubun Farakwai, disclosed this during the inauguration of a harmonization committee in Kano to oversee the party’s registration process. He stated that the decision to part ways with APC was due to the perceived failure of President Tinubu’s administration.

According to Farakwai, “TNN has already approached the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) to initiate the registration process for our party. We have developed a name, logo, constitution, manifesto, and flag, which have been submitted to INEC. We now await approval to formalize TNN as a political party.”

Farakwai expressed regret over supporting APC’s rise to power in 2015.

“We were part of the 2015 arrangement to ensure APC won. Today, we deeply regret that decision. APC has failed in every aspect—security, hunger, and insensitivity to Nigerians’ plights. There is rising poverty, unemployment, and an alarming decline in socio-economic infrastructure. The nation is failing, and this must change.”

He criticized the Tinubu administration, saying, “Our nation is broken; nothing works as it should. Nigerians deserve more than a mere change of faces in government. They need a new culture of governance rooted in true democracy and effective leadership.”

Farakwai announced that TNN has embarked on nationwide rallies to dialogue with Nigerians about their vision for governance.

“We are here to resurrect the dream that APC killed in 2015. By 2027, we will take over and usher in a Nigeria without poverty and injustice. With over 26 million registered members, we are ready to provide an alternative government that truly serves the people.”

The TNN leader urged INEC to remain impartial in its duties and advocated for stringent measures to curb corruption.

There should be severe punishment, including the death penalty, for leaders who embezzle public funds. This will ensure accountability and set Nigeria on the right path,” he concluded.
