7 Things To Know About Veteran Nollywood Actor Pete Edochie As He Clocks 77

Veteran Nollywood actor, Pete Edochie celebrated his 77th year birthday on Thursday, March 7, 2024.

The entertainment personalities and Nigerians have heaped accolades on Edochie for his monumental contributions to the film industry and entertainment sector in general.

Edochie is an eminent professional in broadcasting, journalism and acting – three professions he has a passion for.

In this article, there are seven key facts to know about Edochie.

1. Pete Edochie hails from Enugu and had his primary and secondary education at Saint Patrick’s and St. James Primary School, Zaria, Kaduna State, and later proceeded to Saint John’s Secondary School. He also schooled at the School of Journalism and Television in England.

2. He came into prominence in the 1980s when he played the lead role of Okonkwo in a Nigerian Television Authority adaptation of Chinua Achebe’s all-time best-selling novel, Things Fall Apart.

3. He began his career in radio broadcasting at the Eastern Nigerian Broadcasting Corporation at the age of 20.

4. By 1980, he had been formally trained as a broadcaster at the British Broadcasting Corporation, where he began as a junior programmes assistant.

5. In 1987, he became the pioneer director of Anambra Broadcasting Service 3 FM Stereo, and retired as a broadcaster in 1988.

6. He was honoured with an Industry Merit Award by Africa Magic and Lifetime Achievement by Africa Film Academy despite being a seasoned administrator and broadcaster.

7. In 2003, he was honored as a Member of the Order of the Niger by President Olusegun Obasanjo.

JUST IN: Nollywood Veteran Actor, Ogunjimi Is Dead

The Nigerian movie industry has again been thrown into mourning after the news of the death of another veteran Yoruba Actor Ganiyu Oyeyemi popularly known as Ogunjimi, surfaced on social media on Friday.

Ogunjimi’s death was announced by a Yoruba actor, Kunle Afod, in a post on his Instagram page.

Mourning the actor, Afod wrote, “We tried our best but God loves you more.

“May his soul rest in peace. Baba Ogunjinmi, RIP, Sun re oooo.”

At the time of writing this report, the cause of death has not yet been ascertained.

American singer, Billie Eilish has opened up on her sexuality, giving out a more graphic detail in a new interview.

In a new interview with Rolling Stone, Billie discussed her forthcoming song, “Lunch”, in which she shared details of being intimate with another woman. She said she began writing the song before doing anything with another girl but was able to finish it after one eye-opening encounter with a female.

The singer said: “I’ve been in love with girls for my whole life, but I just didn’t understand, until, last year, I realized I wanted my face in a vagina.

“I was never planning on talking about my sexuality ever, in a million years. It’s really frustrating to me that it came up.”

Billie now seems far more comfortable talking about sex, including the topic of masturbation. In the interview, she confessed to pleasuring herself regularly in front of a mirror, stating it helps with her self-esteem.

She added: “Partly because it’s hot, but it also makes me have such a raw, deep connection to myself and my body, and have a love for my body that I have not really ever had.

“People should be jerking it, man. I can’t stress it enough, as somebody with extreme body issues and dysmorphia that I’ve had my entire life.”

Nollywood Actor, Zulu Adigwe Is Dead

Veteran Nollywood actor, Zulu Adigwe has reportedly passed on.

Adigwe is said to have died on Tuesday evening.

His death was announced in an Instagram post by Movie producer, Stanley Nwoko.

I regret to announce the passing of a veteran actor, late Mr Zulu Adigwe.

“What caused his death is yet to be reviewed. Rest in peace good actor,” he added.

During his career, Adigwe was famous in the movies: “Living in Bondage”, “Breaking Free”, and many others.

Nollywood has lost six of its actors in 2024.

They are Sisi Quadri, Mr. Ibu, Amaechi Muonagor, Andy Best, Jumoke Aderounmu and Junior Pope.
