Asake Buys Father Land Cruiser Days After Gifting Mother G-Wagon

Nigerian singer Asake has reportedly bought a Toyota Landcruiser for his father, days after gifting his mother a luxury Mercedes-Benz G-Class, popularly known as a G-Wagon.

The development follows recent public conversations surrounding the singer’s relationship with his father, Fatai Odunsi, who earlier alleged in a viral video that the fast-rising music star had neglected him.

In the video that circulated on social media, Odunsi claimed he had been battling health challenges and had not received adequate support from his son.

Months after the video, Asake has reportedly purchased a Toyota Land Cruiser for his father.

The development also comes shortly after the singer reportedly gifted his mother a Mercedes-Benz G-Wagon.

Ahmed Ololade, also known as Asake’s breakthrough came after he was signed to YBNL Nation. Under the label, he released a series of hit songs that has established him as one of the most prominent voices in the Afrobeats scene.

His debut album, Mr. Money With The Vibe, released in 2022, achieved remarkable success on streaming platforms and music charts. The project produced several popular tracks and became one of the most streamed African albums on its release.

The singer continued his momentum with subsequent releases, including Work of Art and Lungu Boy. Asake has since then built a distinct sound that resonates with young audiences.

His dominance on streaming platforms has also remained evident. In 2025, his single Why Love emerged as the most-streamed song on Apple Music Nigeria.

Another highlight of the singer’s recent success came with MMS, his collaboration with Wizkid. The track emerged as one of the top five most-streamed songs on Apple Music Nigeria in 2025.

Earlier this year, both artists released a joint EP titled Real. The pair were also featured in Rolling Stone, where they discussed their collaboration and the global rise of Afrobeats.

Asake’s growing international recognition has also been reflected on the global awards stage. In 2023, he earned his first nomination at the Grammy Awards when his collaboration Amapiano with Olamide was nominated in the Best African Music Performance category.

The singer later secured another nomination in the same category for MMS, his collaboration with Wizkid, highlighting his rapid rise on the global music stage.

Within a few years of his mainstream debut, Asake has moved from being an emerging artiste to one of Nigeria’s most influential music exports, selling out stadiums and Arenas Within and outside Africa.

Popular Nigerian content creator, Shank has stirred reactions online after opening up about a personal clash with his mother over tattoos, while also revealing a fresh body ink linked to his “Lit Gang” identity.

The revelation surfaced in a recent viral video shared on his social platforms, where he recounted the moment he tattooed his mother’s name, “Oluremi,” on his arm.

According to him, what he expected to be an emotional moment quickly turned tense.

The day I tattooed my mum’s name on my arm, she started crying and quoting Bible,” Shank said.

He explained that his mother strongly opposed the act, citing religious reasons and warning him against marking his body.

“She told me, ‘did I ask you to draw my name? I don’t like it. Don’t do tattoo again. God said don’t mark your body,’” he recalled.

Shank, however, said he challenged her stance by pointing out what he described as a contradiction.

“I asked her, if you say I should leave my body the way God created it, why do you shave your hair? You that shave hair and me that draw tattoo, we are committing the same sin,” he added.

The content creator used the moment to advise young people navigating similar situations with parents, stressing the importance of independence when making personal decisions.

“Just make sure you’re independent before doing what your parents are not comfortable with,” he said.

Popular Nollywood actress, Eniola Badmus, has challenged Funke Akindele to a celebrity boxing fight.

This came a few hours after Nigerian streamer, Carter Efe defeated Portable in a celebrity boxing match.

Carter Efe defeated Portable on Friday to win the N50 million prize.

Following Carter’s victory, E-Money, a Lagos-based socialist gifted him N50 to celebrate his win.

Prior to the match, popular talent manager, and music executive, Soso Soberekon, gave N40 million to Carter Efe and Portable each.

She wrote “Funke Akindele, let’s get on the boxing ring. It’s about time. Soso, E-Money, let’s get to it. No time. Money has to be made.”
