Baraza: EFCC Declares Bayelsa-based Christ Embassy Pastor, Wife Wanted For ‘N2bn Fraud’

The Economic and Financial Crimes Commission (EFCC) has declared a couple, Onyinmiebi (Miebi Baraza) and Beatrice Bribena, wanted.

An alert by the anti-graft agency urged persons with information about them to contact any of its offices across Nigeria.

The agency is searching for the duo over alleged fraud to the tune N2billion.

The Bribenas are the promoters of Baraza Multipurpose Cooperative Society Limited.

We are dedicated to improving members’ lives via financial empowerment, business financing, thrift & credit, housing, scholarship, etc”, its profile reads.

Bribena, a Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) chieftain in Bayelsa State, is pastor at Christ Embassy Church.

He is accused of scamming thousands of billions of naira after promising a 25 percent Return on Investment (ROI) monthly.

In 2021, the victims repeatedly visited the company’s headquarters on Otiotio Road in Yenagoa to seek a refund. The EFCC has sealed the building.

The company also has branches in Port-Harcourt, the Rivers capital, and some other parts of the country.

Baraza had informed investors it was trading with their money on forex platforms but stopped after it could no longer pay returns.

Last July, Bribena released a video to debunk speculations that his health and business were failing.

A Sharia Court in Kaduna, Kaduna State, has dissolved a two-year-old marriage between a couple, Harira Sanusi and Aliyu Yunusa.

The judge, Malam Salisu Abubakar-Tureta dissolved their marriage following a petition for divorce filed by Harira.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Harira accused Aliyu of calling her parents names and humiliating her.

My Husband Threw Me Out After 17yrs of Marriage —Wife

A housewife, Lawal Modupe, has approached an Upper Area Court sitting at Kubwa, Abuja, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), seeking the dissolution of her 17-year-old marriage to her husband, Ismaila on the grounds of lack of love and affection.

Modupe told the court that she got married Ismaila according to Islamic laws.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the mother of three stated that her husband sent her out of their matrimonial home on June 17, 2023.

My Husband Wants To Take A New Wife, Threatens To Kill Me If I Refuse To Leave, Woman Tells Court

A woman, Ganiyat, has dragged her husband, Tajudeen, before Grade A Customary Court, sitting at Mapo, Ibadan, Oyo State, seeking that her union with the latter be dissolved on the account of lack of care and threat to her life.

Ganiyat stated that Tajudeen showed her no care or attention, adding that he was always on her neck.

The plaintiff also said that the defendant informed her that he wanted to take a new wife and threatened to kill her if she refused to move out of his house.

Ganiyat pleaded for custody of their last two children and also appealed that the court made her husband responsible for their upkeep.
