Basketmouth Unveiled As Headliner For ‘Last One Laughing’ Comedy Show

Prime Video’s first unscripted African Original, LOL: ‘Last One Laughing Naija’, set to hit the screens on July 14th will be hosted by ace comedian, Basketmouth. This and more were revealed at a colourful press conference held in Lagos on Thursday.
The event was hosted by multiple award-winning, patriarch of stand up comedy in Nigeria, Alli Baba. Expectedly, the humour maestro didn’t disappoint. He literally cracked everyone’s ribs with his unscripted presentations. Also in attendance were Prime Video’s Head, African and Middle East Originals, Ned Mitchell, Head, Nigerian Originals, Wangi Mba-Uzoukwu, the entire members of cast, as well as other members of staff.
The six-part series sets out to explore the comedians wits as they compete to be the Last One Laughing. There is just one rule. You laugh, you lose. The last comedian to maintain a straight-face after six hours of show-time wins the ultimate prize.
He or she is mandated to donate the entire N40 Million to a local charity of his or her choice. The scope, basically is to employ all comic tricks to make other contestants laugh, while resisting the urge to do so themselves. The series is produced by Amazon Studios in collaboration with Nigeria’s LiveSpot360 Productions and will be available on Prime Video in over 240 countries.

LOL is a unique and unscripted six-part comedy show. It is also a sequel and adaptation of Prime Video’s global hit comedy franchise currently produced in over 20 countries like Canada, Australia, Mexico, Brazil, and South Africa. It is to be launched early next year, with Trevor Noah as host.
The highly anticipated series will have Basketmouth set up ten of Nigeria’s best comedy and entertainment stars against one another in a celebrity showdown. The all-star lineup made up of Nigeria’s top-tier comedy acts include: Okey Bakassi, Acapella, Mr Funny, aka Sabinus, KieKie, Buchi, Dat Warri Girl, Taoma, Senator, IGoSave, and Gandoki.
Head, African and Middle East Originals, Ned Mitchele said the show is built on Prime Video’s commitment to deliver local and authentic African films and series to a global audience. He also stated that the series was completely shot in Lagos, despite the initially perceived challenges around a project of that magintute.
“It is so amazing working with the most talented entertainers in the the industry on this project. We hope our customers will have the chance to see the massive level of quality they bring on the show. A whole new change is brewing in the industry around the continent and we as a company are so proud to be part of it.”
“The series is a global hit for Prime Video, and that’s why we’re excited to bring its very own version to customers in Nigeria. Trevor Noah was so glad when he heard we are doing this in Africa. It is a simple show in context but complex in production. It will keep our viewers highly informed and entertained at the same time”, he said.
Head, Nigerian Originals, Wangi Mba-Uzoukwu said she is more than convinced that viewers will love a series full of incredibly talented Nigerian humour and comedic talent with an A-List lineup.

Event host, veteran comedian, Alli Babi urged all media personalities present to help push the words out. He said viewers should expect and feel all the intensity, spontaneity and originality of the various performers of the show which officially hits the screens on July 14th.

Adekunle Gold, Simi Welcome Twin Babies

Popular Nigerian music stars, Adekunle Kosoko, widely known as Adekunle Gold, and his wife, Simi, have become parents again this time to twins.
The award-winning singer shared the joyful update on his Snapchat story on Wednesday, confirming the expansion of their family.
“Asked God for another child and he blessed me double,” she wrote.

While the couple has not yet disclosed the gender of the newborns, the announcement has sparked an outpouring of warm wishes from admirers, fellow celebrities, and industry colleagues.
Speculation had intensified in December when Simi posted a video on Instagram accompanied by the caption, “From my baby, for my babies.”
The clip showed her with a growing baby bump, fueling anticipation that another child was on the way.

Their latest blessings arrive just weeks after Simi highlighted a scene from Adekunle Gold’s newly released music video, “My Love is the Same,” further stirring excitement among fans.
Adekunle Gold and Simi who tied the knot in 2019 after a long history of friendship and musical synergy remain one of Nigeria’s most admired entertainment power couples. Both artistes were once signed to X3M Music before soaring into mainstream acclaim.
The pair welcomed their first child, Adejare Kosoko, fondly called Deja, in May 2020.

Regina Daniels Finally Surrenders Self For Drug Test

Nigerian actress, Regina Daniels, has finally surrendered herself for a drug test.
Sharing a video of herself at the hospital on Instagram, she said “Hi guys, so I’m here at the hospital, I’m about to run my drug test.”
This came nearly three months after she was accused of substance abuse by her husband and politician, Senator Ned Nwoko.

Recall that Regina Daniels had in October 2025 called out Ned Nwoko over alleged domestic violence and abuse.
Ned, who denied the allegations, also accused the actress of substance abuse. Stating that he has Regina’s medical records.
Also speaking amid Regina’s messy breakup with Ned, her co-wife, Laila Charani, claimed the actress introduced her to drugs.

Amid the controversy, an alleged medical report by Serenity Royale Hospital showing toxic levels of marijuana, morphine, opiates, cocaine, and alcohol in her system surfaced online.
Denying leaking Regina laboratory tests, Serenity Royale Hospital said, “We wish to state clearly that the publication containing classified information of Mrs Nwoko Regina did not emanate from us and respectfully request the public to disregard same.”

Regina Daniels Threatens Lawsuit Against Ned Nwoko After Testing Negative For Drugs [VIDEO]

Actress, Regina Daniels, has threatened to sue her estranged husband, Senator Ned Nwoko and others for accusing of taking hard drugs.
The actress made the threat in a video on her Instagram page on Wednesday.
In the video, she displayed laboratory test results conducted by a California hospital. According to the test results, Regina, who tested negative for hard drugs, is only associated with ecstasy better known as molly.

She said: “Hi everyone, it’s Regina Daniels. I don’t believe that I will sit in front of this camera again trying to clear up an accusation that was sent to destroy me.
“It’s a new year, and with it came a moment of clarity. I realised that there are certain narratives I can no longer allow linger over my name as a public figure. I also realised how many people love me, support and believe in me. And I will never let that love or loyalty to be met with shame or doubt. I mean, tell me what better way to tear down a brand than drugs.
“Still, I’m endlessly grateful for the opportunity to speak my truth. Taking this test is not about clearing my name, is about giving a strong, and confident voice to those who believes in me. And above all, to give my children something priceless, pride, that when they grow up to the proper age of understanding, they will know that their mother was never a drug addict.

“And please note, I was never on any hard drugs or any nonsense fabricated online. I will sue, I will definitely sue at the appropriate time, a honestly speaking, the only drug I was associated with was ecstasy. Believe it or not there’s a reason for that.”
She made the clarification nearly three months after her husband, Senator Ned Nwoko accused her of drug use.
DAILY POST reports that the actress had earlier shared a video of her in a California hospital for a drug test.
