COVID-19: Azura Power Plant Donates Medical Items To Edo Govt

As part of effort in supporting Edo State government in the fight against the deadly COVID-19, Azura Power West Africa Limited (Azura-Edo), has donated medical and non-medical items to the state government with a view to protecting Edo people and medical personnel in the frontline of the fight against the virus and make them more efficient.

The medical PPE donated are 190 packs of surgical masks, medical hand gloves, safety gloggles, shoe covers respectively, fifty thousand (50,000) branded reusable face masks and 170 pieces of disposable coveralls, and hand sanitisers respectively.

Mr. Oscar Imoekor, Head, plant operations, said Azura-Edo Power Plant has enjoyed support from the state government and people of the state, hence it became necessary to give back to the state and the people therein.

Azura-Edo Power Plant has enjoyed great support from the government and people of Edo State and as such, we are using this opportunity to give back to the society by way of supporting the fight against COVID-19, and we would like to say that Azura-Edo Power Plant is always ready to collaborate with the government in their effort to keep the state safe and free of COVID-19″, Imoekor said.

He noted that defeating the pandemic and making the state COVID-19 free has to be a combined effort, as he urged residents to keep to all directives of the NCDC of regular washing of hands with soap and running water; avoiding crowded places, use of face mask and hand sanitiser and self-isolation.

Receiving the items on behalf of the state government, Deputy Governor of the state, Philip Shuaibu, thanked Azura Power Plant for the donation, as he admitted that government alone cannot single handedly fight the virus.

He called on individuals and corporate bodies to emulate Azura by joining hands with the government in the fight.

According to him, Azura power plant and Edo State government are long time partners in progress, stressing that with Azura in Edo the state would soon be industrialised.

The donation at Orior Osemwende Primary Healthcare centre

In a related development, Azura-Edo Power Plant donated similar medical PPEs to Primary Healthcare centre, Orior Osemwende, it host community in order to aid health personnel in the centre.

Presenting the items, Mr. Sunny Ogbodo said after giving some set of medical equipment to the healthcare centre two weeks ago, the company realised there was need to give more hence the donation.

Ikpea Of APC Sweeps Edo Central Senatorial Seat By-election [SEE RESULTS]

Joseph Ikpea of the All Progressive Congress (APC) has been declared winner of Saturday, August 16, 2025 by-election for Edo Central Senatorial District of the state.

According to figures released by the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) from the collation centre in Ubiaja, Esan South East Local Government Area, Dr. Ikpea scored 105,129 votes, to defeat his closest opponent, Prince Joe Okojie of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), who polled 15,146 votes.

Edo: APC’s Omosede Igbinedion Wins Ovia Federal Constituency By-election

Barrister Gabriella Omosede Igbinedion of the All Progressives Congress (APC) has won the Ovia Federal Constituency By-election.

Omosede polled 77,053 votes in the Saturday’s by-election.

The returning officer, Mr Clement Ighodaro, announced the result in the early hours of Sunday at Iguobazuwa, Ovia South West Local Government Area.

Igbinedion, daughter of the influential Igbinedion family of Okada, swept aside her rivals in what observers described as a one-sided contest.
