COVID-19: Islamic Sect Postpones Nyass Maulud

Renowned Islamic Scholar and leader of Tijjaniyya Sect, Sheikh Dahiru Usman Bauchi, has announced the postponement of Maulud of Ibrahim Nyass till further notice.

The leader, while answering questions from journalists, said the postponement became necessary due to the spread of corona virus, despite measures taken by other affected countries of the world.

He further stated that, the event was scheduled to take place simultaneously in Abuja and Sokoto on 21 March, 2020, before it was postponed due to Corona virus outbreak.


Dahiru Bauchi said “Many distinguished Islamic Scholars and people from different parts of the world like Senegal, Morocco, Mauritania, Senegal, Niger, attende the event but doctors and public health officials are advising people to reduce being crowd and wash their hands, or sanitise them.

“Because of that, more events are being canceled or postponed, in some places even congregational prayers is not allowed for that reason, we are postponing the event both in Abuja and Sokoto”.

He advised people to engage in frequent special prayers, as one of the measures and a weapon to defeat the virus as declared pandemic.

The Scholar said “We thank Allah in Nigeria, the problems is not worse as it is in other part of the world, I advise public to follow public health officials advise”.

Dahiru Bauchi acknowledged the Federal Government efforts in that regard and as he prayed for peace and stability in Nigeria and other parts of the world.
