Cristiano Ronaldo Punched By Former Teammate As PSG Win Saudi Arabia Friendly

Published

on

Cristiano Ronaldo received a punch in the face during a friendly against Paris Saint-Germain on Thursday.

The 37-year-old captained a Saudi All-Star XI in Riyadh, with his long-term rival Lionel Messi also starting for the Ligue 1 giants.

Messi opened the scoring in the 3rd minute, but as they pressed for an equaliser, the Saudi side looked to Ronaldo’s world-famous heading ability.

However, as a cross was swung into the box, Ronaldo didn’t reckon with his former Real Madrid team-mate Keylor Navas, whose attempt to punch clear also saw him connect with Ronaldo’s face, thus giving away a penalty.

Ronaldo fell to the ground dazed, although he avoided serious injury. He, however, was left with a black eye.

He was soon back up on his feet to drill his spot-kick past Navas.

It is not the first time the Premier League has been at the centre of a police investigation over an alleged rape.

Manchester United forward Mason Greenwood, 22, was charged with attempted rape, assault and coercive behaviour in October 2022.

The case against him was subsequently dropped in February 2023 after key witnesses withdrew. Greenwood denied all the allegations against him.
