Spotify, a global online streaming platform, says Davido’s music is the most streamed in the United Kingdom, Nigeria, Canada and France.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria, the streaming platform’s Artiste and Label Partnerships Manager for West Africa, Victor Okpala, in a statement on Tuesday, said songs by Davido featured on over 10 million user-generated playlists on Spotify.

He said Davido’s fans appeal was hardly in doubt, adding that the afrobeat star usually made music that captured elusive, exhilarating energy, and fans across the world had connected since his earliest releases.

“Data from Spotify shows that Davido is one of the Afrobeats’ biggest exports. While undoubtedly adored at home, the United States is the single largest market for Omo Baba Olowo’s music, with the vast majority of his plays coming from outside Africa.

“The United Kingdom, Nigeria, Canada and France round out the top four countries where his music is streamed. Davido is one of Afrobeats’ truly global stars, and we are honoured to play our role in sharing his art and ethos with his dedicated fans in Nigeria and around the world,” Okpala said.

Meanwhile, another music streaming platform, Audiomack, in a post on Monday on Twitter, said Davido’s ‘Timeless’ album had over 12 million streams in 24 hours, adding that this was the first time an album would achieve such a feat on the app.

The tweet read, “RECORD-BREAKING: Davido’s Timeless had over 12 million streams in its first 24 hours, more than any other album on Audiomack, ever! Keep streaming, keep supporting.”
