Edo 2020: Orbih Mocks Oshiomhole, Says ‘Go Knee Down And Beg As Usual’

Published

on

Chief Dan Orbih, the immediate past chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, in Edo State, has advised former national chairman of the APC, Comrade Adams Oshiomhole, to go to the Enogie of Uromi’s palace, alongside “his candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu and beg for forgiveness, just as he has been doing.”

Orbih who made this mockery statement Monday night in Benin while briefing journalists on the circumstances surrounding the suspension of the monarch, said Oshiomhole has going about kneeing down, begging for forgiveness hence it shouldn’t be defficult for him and his candidate to do at the traditional ruler’s palace.

Clearing the air on who actually suspended the Enogie of Uromi, Orbih disclosed that Oshiomhole suspended the Monarch towards the end of his tenure, but it was lifted by Obaseki, stressing that Obaseki was never the one who suspended the Monarch but Oshiomhole.

Orbih said, ” In the course of our visit to Edo central, I read the opposition party (APC) issuing statements suggesting that the suspension of the traditional ruler of Uromi was at the instance of the current governor of the state.

” I want to say quite clearly here that, it seems to me the former governor of the state, the former chairman of APC, Adams Oshiomhole is having some problems in recollecting what actually happened when he was in office.

” But I will like to educate him a bit. At the time the traditional ruler was suspended, Oshiomhole was still the governor of the state. The person that lifted that suspension was the current governor.

” So, they should go back and check their fact properly. I know there are a lot of things Oshiomhole did while he was still in office, and today he is regretting them, and that is why you see him going about kneeing down and begging people for forgiveness.

” All he should do is to go with his candidate, Pastor Osagie Ize-Iyamu to the Enogie of Uromi’s palace and beg just like he has been doing.

” There is no point trying to change the story. He was the Executive Governor at the time the man was suspended. The current Governor Godwin Obaseki was the one who took over and lifted the suspension order issued by Oshiomhole few days to the end of his tenure.”

Orbih, who is also chairman, Obaseki campaign organisation, noted that the forthcoming election is for Edo people to decide either they want to move forward or backward.

While noting that the governor’s campaign train has concluded electioneering in Edo north and central, Orbih declared that the reception and responses at both senatorial districts were impressive, stressing that Edo south would not be different.

” We have concluded the campaign tour of Edo central, and the response was quite good, and we will be starting of Edo south senatorial district this Tuesday. And I believe just as we did in other districts, we are going to move from ward to ward taking the message to the people. Letting them know that this election is about them, and about their future.

” Well, for us as a political party, the issues for the election are quite clear. Do we want to go backward to where people can be suspended for no just reason?

“Well, I believe it is time for politicians to behave as honourable people. There is no point, if you make a decision, you should be able to stand by such, and not to start changing or kneeing to start begging for forgiveness.

” Decisions must be well-informed, before taking. You don’t take decision that you will regret after. I think that is a message for those aspiring to attain position,” Orbih said.

“We categorically state that the continued targeting of Nigerians under any guise is unacceptable and must come to an immediate end.

“This will include major corporations such as MTN Group and MultiChoice Group. It is morally indefensible for businesses to thrive in an environment where the lives of Nigerians are protected, while Nigerians are subjected to fear and violence elsewhere.
