Edo Community Expresses Concern Over Rise In Insecurity, Herdsmen Attack

His Royal Highness, Solomon Ogimade, the Enogie of Ugboko dukedom, has expressed worry over the rise of insecurity, herdsmen attack and activities of hoodlums in Orhionmwon Local Government of Edo State.

Duke Ogimade expressed his worry when he received in audience the Hon. member representing orhionmwon south constituency, Bright Iyamu at his residence in Benin.

He lamented and told his guest that the activities of herdsmen hoodlums and insecurity are presently on the increase and want the situation nip in the bud.

The Duke also appealed to Iyamu to do the needful in ensuring that the roads leading to Orhiomwon South are motorable.

He said: “There is no one I can communicate with except you, It your time please kindly assist the good people of Orhiomwon South”.

“I do not have any power of my own, please kindly bring development to our community, we need development; we need companies and factories to enhance development in Orhionmwon South, so that our people can be empowered.

“Presently majority of our people are farmers. If there are companies and factories in Orhionmwon Local Government Area it will enhance development and improve welfare of our people”.

Responding, Iyamu who recently marked his 100 days in office with many projects to his credit appreciated the Duke and the entire Ugboko Dukedom for their unflinching support before, during and after his election and also pleaded for more support to enable him fulfill all his campaign promises.

He assured the Duke that the men of the Nigeria Police Force and other sisters agencies will be deployed to beef up security on the roads in the locality to stemmed the problem of insecurity in the area and also to prevent a re occurrence of kidnapping and herdsmen attack in the area.

“I have contributed positively to Orhiomwon South and I will continue to do my best for Orhiomwon South and Orhiomwon Local Government Area”.

Hon. Iyamu said: “I am a youth, the development of Orhiomwon South is my priority. In the house, I moved the motion for light connectivity and rehabilitation of the Benin- Abraka Road, the construction company has commenced the rehabilitation of the Road from Ugo”.

On the issue of light, Iyamu said the state government is partnering Seplat Energy, adding “sooner than expected the light issue will materialized. The light will be connected to the roads which will not only brighten the roads but also enhanced security and will be extended to the communities,” he said.

He expressed appreciation to the State Governor, Mr Godwin Obaseki for having the interest of Orhiomwon at heart.

First City Monument Bank (FCMB) has opened a new round of applications for its SheVentures proposition, offering zero-interest loans of up to ₦10 million to women entrepreneurs to ease access to working capital and support business growth.

The facility provides loans ranging from ₦500,000 to ₦5 million under a general category, and ₦5 million to ₦10 million for sector-specific businesses, with funding capped at up to 50% of an applicant’s average monthly turnover.

At the centre of the offering is a 0% interest rate, with all charges embedded in a transparent structure.

Repayment is structured over four or six months, allowing businesses to match obligations with their cash flow cycles.

Yemisi Edun, Managing Director and Chief Executive of First City Monument Bank (FCMB), said the initiative reflects a deliberate approach to inclusive growth.

Xenophobic Attacks: Oshiomhole Tells FG To Retaliate Against South African Companies In Nigeria

Senator Adams Oshiomhole has called on the Federal Government to retaliate against South African businesses operating in Nigeria following the recent attacks on Nigerians in South Africa.

Speaking during plenary on Tuesday, Oshiomhole said the Federal Government should consider revoking the working license of South African owned companies such as MTN and DSTV.

He argued that Nigeria must respond firmly to what he described as persistent hostility against its citizens.

“I am not going to shed tears. If you hit me, I hit you. I think it is appropriate in diplomacy. It is an economic struggle,” Oshiomhole said.

He argued that while some South Africans accuse Nigerians of taking their jobs, Nigerians should return home and take over employment opportunities created by major South African companies operating in the country, including MTN and DSTV.

IGP Orders Officers Display Name Tag On Uniform, Gives Update On State Police

The Inspector General of Police, IGP, Tunji Disu, has ordered all police personnel to always have their name tags on their uniforms for easy identification.

Disu disclosed that only police personnel who are undercover are exempted from displaying their name tags.

Speaking on Tuesday, Disu said: “All police officers should have their name tags. All of us on the high table have our names apart from the undercover among us so if you look at all the Commissioners of Police we have our name tags, so it’s not our standard.
