Edo Govt Committed To Promoting Religious Harmony, Says Deputy Gov

Edo State Deputy Governor, Hon. Dennis Idahosa has disclosed that the Senator Monday Okpebholo-led administration in the state is committed to promoting religious harmony among citizens and residents of the state.

Idahosa made the disclosure when he received leaders and members of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-Day Saint on a courtesy call in his office on Thursday.

A statement by Mr Friday Aghedo, the Chief Press Secretary to the Deputy Governor quoted him as soliciting the assistance of religious leaders to help drive development in the state.

Idahosa in the statement stated that with religious leaders active participation in state affairs and also through prayers, clerics are capable of ensuring that dividends of democracy spread across the nooks and crannies of the state.

Idahosa said: “We are highly excited, and as a government, we receive you today because the Governor and I, are Christians; we belong to the family of Jesus Christ.

‘We also made it clear that we are going to use governance to promote the kingdom of God here in Edo State.

“As a family, we want to continue to count on your support and prayers, because governance is not a joke, but requires strength, commitment, and dedication.

“So, we are going to be needing you to partner with us in prayers and support to ensure Edo people get the dividends of democracy that they deserve.”

In his address, the President of Christian Faith, Charles Evbuomwan, commended the laudable strides of the administration in the areas of policy initiations, and implementations that he noted had continued to impact the lives, and well-being of citizens and residents in the state.

Your Excellency, we are here first of all, to congratulate you on your assumption of office as the deputy governor of Edo State.

“And to further express thanks to you and your principal, the governor of Edo State, for the efforts put in to initiate policies and programs that will positively affect the lives of citizens and residents of Edo state,” Evbuomwan said.

Xenophobic Attacks: Nigerian Students To Picket MTN, MultiChoice, Other Businesses

The leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS South-West Zone D, has announced plans to picket South African companies in Nigeria following the ongoing xenophobic attacks in the country.

DAILY POST reports that some Nigerians were recently killed in South Africa over the violent attacks.

A statement issued to newsmen by Comrade Adeyemo Josiah Kayode, Coordinator, NANS South-West, Zone D, said that the association is mobilizing to take decisive and lawful action by organizing peaceful picketing and mass advocacy against South African business interests operating in Nigeria.

“We categorically state that the continued targeting of Nigerians under any guise is unacceptable and must come to an immediate end.

N5m, N10m Zero-interest Loans: SheVentures Opens Applications For Women Entrepreneurs

First City Monument Bank (FCMB) has opened a new round of applications for its SheVentures proposition, offering zero-interest loans of up to ₦10 million to women entrepreneurs to ease access to working capital and support business growth.

The facility provides loans ranging from ₦500,000 to ₦5 million under a general category, and ₦5 million to ₦10 million for sector-specific businesses, with funding capped at up to 50% of an applicant’s average monthly turnover.

At the centre of the offering is a 0% interest rate, with all charges embedded in a transparent structure.

Repayment is structured over four or six months, allowing businesses to match obligations with their cash flow cycles.

Yemisi Edun, Managing Director and Chief Executive of First City Monument Bank (FCMB), said the initiative reflects a deliberate approach to inclusive growth.
