Edo Govt House PS Bags NVMA Meritorious Award, Dedicates It To God, Late Father

The Permanent Secretary Transformation Office, Government House, Benin City, Dr. Peter Aibuedefe Osagie, has bagged meritorious award of excellence.

He was given the award at an event by the Nigeria Veterinary Medical Association (NVMA), for his impact and contributions to the association in Edo State and Nigeria as whole.

The event was the 2023 Veterinary Week/Livestock Farmers Forum organised by the NVMA, Edo State branch, with the theme: ‘Promoting Vision 2030; Making Edo Great Again (MEGA) in Livestock Production.’ The event was held in Benin recently.

In his acceptance speech, Dr. Osagie dedicated the award to the Edo State Government for finding him worthy to be part of the management team of the state.

Furthermore, he also dedicated the award to the Almighty God, who, according to him, is his strength, his immediate family, his mother, late father, and colleagues.

Dr. Osagie, who is equally the National Vice President of NVMA, said his father was the person who motivated him on his path to his career when growing up.

This, according to him, impacted great knowledge in him as it relates to his profession.

He explained that his father’s mentorship towards him in his chosen career distinguished him from others.

There is never a wrong time to receive such an award because as a vet doctor, I have made sure I gave my best to my profession. However, the recognition you get from your peers is something of great joy, and it is capable of spuring you to greater service. “

“So, I am very thankful to God for making me see this day. It would have been a posthumous award, but I received it in my lifetime. I give God the glory, I am very elated, and I want to also thank my colleagues for finding me worthy for honour and giving me an award.” He posited.

He added: “Of course, I also dedicate the award to my late Father, who was my mentor and role model. A lot of things I know now and the values i have imbibed today that make me excel in my career, I learnt them from him.

“i want to also dedicate the award to the Edo State government. They, too, have found me worthy to be part of the management of the state.

“I also dedicate this award to my wife and my children who had to cope with the time I was away. When I was pursuing my career with strength and vigour, at the same time, I was pursuing my academic advancements. So, my family were able to cope with me, and I dedicate this award to them,” he buttressed.

Earlier, in his speech, Dr. Chikwe Emmanuel, Chairman, the NVMA, Edo State branch, said the essence of the programme was to give back to the people of Edo State the best way to grow their livestock, adding that they have started giving free training to livestock farmers on the better way to rear their animals.

He said: “This event is a way of supporting the government using the livestock sector. We are offering free training on various aspects of farming. Like poultry, fish, pig, cattle, and sheep farming.

“This is a free training that we are giving the farmers in the Edo state.”

Xenophobic Attacks: Nigerian Students To Picket MTN, MultiChoice, Other Businesses

The leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS South-West Zone D, has announced plans to picket South African companies in Nigeria following the ongoing xenophobic attacks in the country.

DAILY POST reports that some Nigerians were recently killed in South Africa over the violent attacks.

A statement issued to newsmen by Comrade Adeyemo Josiah Kayode, Coordinator, NANS South-West, Zone D, said that the association is mobilizing to take decisive and lawful action by organizing peaceful picketing and mass advocacy against South African business interests operating in Nigeria.

“We categorically state that the continued targeting of Nigerians under any guise is unacceptable and must come to an immediate end.

N5m, N10m Zero-interest Loans: SheVentures Opens Applications For Women Entrepreneurs

First City Monument Bank (FCMB) has opened a new round of applications for its SheVentures proposition, offering zero-interest loans of up to ₦10 million to women entrepreneurs to ease access to working capital and support business growth.

The facility provides loans ranging from ₦500,000 to ₦5 million under a general category, and ₦5 million to ₦10 million for sector-specific businesses, with funding capped at up to 50% of an applicant’s average monthly turnover.

At the centre of the offering is a 0% interest rate, with all charges embedded in a transparent structure.

Repayment is structured over four or six months, allowing businesses to match obligations with their cash flow cycles.

Yemisi Edun, Managing Director and Chief Executive of First City Monument Bank (FCMB), said the initiative reflects a deliberate approach to inclusive growth.
