Edo Govt Pledges Better Opportunities For Youths

The Edo State Government led by Governor Godwin Obaseki has pledged to sustain reforms and programmes to guarantee better opportunities for youths in the state, ensuring that they are provided with the right environment and skills to survive and thrive in a technology-driven society.

This was contained in a statement by the Special Adviser to the Edo State Government on Media Projects, Mr. Crusoe Osagie, and made available to newsmen on Wednesday.

The statement noted that the representative of the State Governor and Chief of Staff to the Governor, Hon. Osaigbovo Iyoha, gave the assurance, during a courtesy visit by the executives of the Coalition for Southern Peoples Democratic Party at the Government House, in Benin City.

Obaseki, receiving the group led by its National Chairman, Chief Nwankwo Godwin, said the government would continue to support the youths, providing them with the opportunity to live life to the fullest.

Obaseki, who identified the youths as the future of the party and the country, urged them not to lose hope in the country, but to be united and join other stakeholders in the quest to rescue Nigeria and reposition it for greatness and prosperity.

He reassured, “Obaseki is the chairman of the PDP registration and the party has registered about 600,000 people in the state. We want to assure you that the PDP is Edo and Edo is the PDP. We are doing everything to ensure we move the party to the centre.”

On his part, the chairman of the coalition said the body is drawn from 17 states from the southern part of the country, which comprises the South-East, South-West and South-South.

He explained that the coalition aimed at fostering unity within the southern PDP, adding, “Most of our youths in this area are left behind but as a group, we are working to bring unity within the youths in the region.”

Godwin further noted, “We commend the governor for being a lover of the youths and appeal to him to be the patron of this noble body.

“We want to go round the 359 local government areas in the 17 states to mobilise the youths to participate in politics.”

Xenophobic Attacks: Nigerian Students To Picket MTN, MultiChoice, Other Businesses

The leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS South-West Zone D, has announced plans to picket South African companies in Nigeria following the ongoing xenophobic attacks in the country.

DAILY POST reports that some Nigerians were recently killed in South Africa over the violent attacks.

A statement issued to newsmen by Comrade Adeyemo Josiah Kayode, Coordinator, NANS South-West, Zone D, said that the association is mobilizing to take decisive and lawful action by organizing peaceful picketing and mass advocacy against South African business interests operating in Nigeria.

“We categorically state that the continued targeting of Nigerians under any guise is unacceptable and must come to an immediate end.

N5m, N10m Zero-interest Loans: SheVentures Opens Applications For Women Entrepreneurs

First City Monument Bank (FCMB) has opened a new round of applications for its SheVentures proposition, offering zero-interest loans of up to ₦10 million to women entrepreneurs to ease access to working capital and support business growth.

The facility provides loans ranging from ₦500,000 to ₦5 million under a general category, and ₦5 million to ₦10 million for sector-specific businesses, with funding capped at up to 50% of an applicant’s average monthly turnover.

At the centre of the offering is a 0% interest rate, with all charges embedded in a transparent structure.

Repayment is structured over four or six months, allowing businesses to match obligations with their cash flow cycles.
