Former Minister of Transport and former Rivers State Governor, Rotimi Amaechi, has vowed to stop the second-term bid of President Bola Tinubu in 2027.
He accused the President of being insensitive to the welfare of Nigerians and called on the people to register massively for the African Democratic Congress, his new party, to salvage the country.
Amaechi, a presidential aspirant of the All Progressives Congress in the 2023 general election, stated this while addressing hundreds of supporters and loyalists who thronged the Port Harcourt International Airport to welcome him on Wednesday.
The former governor announced his official resignation from the APC and had fully joined the coalition to oust President Tinubu.

He is joined in the coalition by former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, who had since dumped the Peoples Democratic Party, former Kaduna State Governor, Nasir El-Rufai, former Osun State Governor, Rauf Aregbesola, former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, among others.
Speaking at the Rivers rally, Amaechi said an end must come to Tinubu’s bad government, which he said had brought severe hardship to the people.
He said the ADC would provide the best government the people deserved.
Amaechi stated, “This is just to reassure our supporters and Rivers people that there is a new party in town.

“Every Rivers man who thinks well of the state and the country should move to register with the new party and ensure that we remove the current government and stop the hunger everybody is suffering from.”
On who gets the ADC’s presidential ticket in 2027, Amaechi said all the contenders would stand by whoever emerged as long as the selection process was credible.
“Anybody who emerges from the primaries, we insist on a free, fair and transparent primary; all of us will support whoever emerges,” he said.
Amaechi told his supporters, “If you are not tired of Tinubu, I’m tired of President Tinubu. If you’re not hungry, I’m hungry.

“If the rich men are spending N4m a month for electricity, only God knows how you (citizens) are surviving. And the President says he doesn’t care.
“The President says he is not here to make you happy. But ADC is here to make you happy.”
The former governor said he would not work with anyone who joined those who liked to write election results in the state.
“Rivers State is notorious for writing (election) results. When they write the result, they claim they have won.
“I will not work with you if you work with those result snatchers to announce the result. God will bless all of us,” he said.
According to The PUNCH, after driving into town, Amaechi trekked several kilometres from the Waterlines axis to his residence in Old GRA, while acknowledging cheers from residents.
