Edo Guber: APC, PDP Biker Over Alleged Civil Servants Impersonating As Corps Members

The APC and PDP in Edo State continue their allegation and counter allegation Tuesday as the former called on the state citizens and INEC to remain alert, alleging that some state civil servants are impersonating National Youth Service Corps (NYSC) memebers in preparation for the governship election.
The APC says a highly placed sources who pleaded anonymity disclosed that civil servants from Owan West, Owan East and Akoko-Edo local government areas are impersonating NYSC corps members so as to serve as ad hoc staff in the September 19 election.
Chairman of Edo APC Media Campaign Council, Mr. John Mayaki, while raising the alarm in a statement he made available to newsmen in Benin, noted that “The governor plans to rig the elections.”

According to Mayaki, sources disclosed to him that, in call for training, “only few corps members turned up for the election duty and that at least 30% of people currently undergoing training are civil servants who have graduated over 5 years ago.”
Going further, Mayaki said the source categorically stated that it was the PDP’s handiwork, as the “same had occurred in Oredo local government area, where 300 corpers were trained, who did not apply through the portal.”
” The governor plans to rig elections. They have been looting Edo into poverty to furnish this dark plan to rig the election. It is bad enough that the governor has chosen this path of destruction. He is destroying only himself. He has tried his best to debilitate the state by insulting the security agencies, the judiciary, the Palace, prominent sons and daughters of Edo, the office of the governor, and now the National Youth Service Corps. He now impersonates youths from other states to rig elections!”

“We condemn this unwholesome development and call on INEC and other bodies with election supervisory mandate to prevail on the emerging rigging style of the PDP. All Edo citizens must be vigilant to quell any attempts to pilfer their mandates,” he said.
Reacting, PDP publicity secretary in the state, Mr. Chris Nehikhare said the APC has run out of narratives hence resorting to “juvenile innuendos.”
Chris added that the APC allegations are baseless and should be ignored, just as he called on Mayaki to keep himself busy drafting memorable concession speech rather than contriving rigging plans of PDP.
Chris’ words, “With the way APC is going, one is beginning to feel sorry for them. They have run out of narratives and now resort to juvenile innuendos. I will not dignify APC with a response. It is common knowledge that they have no chance of winning the election.

” It’s common knowledge that their rigging plans has suffered a devastating set back as Aso Rock has told them that Edo people will determine their fate. Their much taunted federal might is a mirage! Instead of Mayaki to be drafting a memorable concession speech, he is busy contriving rigging plans of PDP. His allegations are baseless and should be ignored.”

“We categorically state that the continued targeting of Nigerians under any guise is unacceptable and must come to an immediate end.
“This will include major corporations such as MTN Group and MultiChoice Group. It is morally indefensible for businesses to thrive in an environment where the lives of Nigerians are protected, while Nigerians are subjected to fear and violence elsewhere.
