2027: Presidency’s Attack On Jonathan Shows Fear Of PDP, Says Zamfara PDP

Published

By

The Zamfara State chapter of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) has accused the Presidency of attacking former President Goodluck Jonathan in order to divert attention from what it described as the failures of the Bola Tinubu-led administration.

In a statement issued in Gusau, the Zamfara PDP Chairman, Hon. Jamilu Jibo Magayaki, said the Presidency’s criticism of Jonathan’s record was a sign of anxiety over the growing strength of the opposition ahead of the 2027 general elections.

According to him, Nigerians have not forgotten the comparative stability of Jonathan’s years in office.

If Jonathan’s record was truly ‘disastrous’ as they claim, why then does the mere suggestion of his return to the ballot in 2027 send shivers down the spine of the APC?” Magayaki asked.

He argued that the period under Jonathan was remembered for “peace, respect for democracy, and relative economic stability,” in contrast with what he described as widespread hardship under the current government.

“Today, Nigerians are groaning under excruciating hardship, insecurity, hunger, skyrocketing inflation, and an economy in free fall, despite all the so-called ‘giant strides’ President Tinubu’s spokespersons keep repeating like a broken record,” he said.

Magayaki maintained that the ruling party’s continued reference to Jonathan was evidence of its inability to defend its record after more than two years in power.

“If after just over two years in power, Tinubu and his handlers must invoke Jonathan’s name to cover their failures, then it is clear that their days in Aso Rock are numbered,” he said.

He added that the PDP remained confident that Nigerians would return the party to power in 2027.

“The PDP assures Nigerians that come 2027, the era of deceit, propaganda, and hunger under the APC will end. Nigerians are wiser now, and they are waiting patiently to rescue this nation from the shackles of bad governance,” Magayaki said.

He said, “Six out of the seven commissioner-nominees before us today have been cleared and confirmed, except one, who is our former colleague, Hon Chris Okaeben, who has a question to answer with DSS. So I think he has to report to the DSS office for clearance.
