Edo Guber Poll: Edo Speaker Agbebaku Defies PDP, Congratulates Governor-elect, Okpebholo

The Speaker, Edo State House of Assembly, Blessing Agbebaku, has congratulated the governor-elect of the state, Senator Monday Okpebholo, on his victory at the just concluded governorship election.

The All Progressives Congress, APC’s Okpebholo, defeated the candidate of the Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, Asue Ighodalo with 291,667 votes as against 247,274 votes.

Agbebaku’s congratulatory message was contrary to the position of the governorship candidate, Asue Ighodalo, and the State leadership of PDP who vowed that they would not congratulate the governor-elect, alleging that the election was rigged and manipulated in favour of APC.

Agbebaku, who congratulated the governor-elect at plenary on Wednesday, advised to be wary of sycophants.

His congratulary message reads: “The governor-elect is for Edo people and not for the All Progressives Congress alone and I prayed that sycophants do not mislead him.”

Recalls that the Speaker, a member of PDP representing Owan West constituency at the State House of Assembly lost his local government at the election to APC.

APC polled a total of 12,277 votes while PDP scored 11, 284 votes.

The 100th National Executive Committee meeting of the Peoples Democratic Party has reinstated Senator Samuel Anyanwu as the party’s national secretary.

Speaking to journalists after the NEC meeting held in Abuja on Monday, the PDP acting National Chairman, Umar Damagum, announced that Anyanwu has been officially reinstated.

JUST IN: Dalori Chairs First APC NWC Meeting Following Ganduje’s Resignation

Following the resignation of former Kano State Governor, Abdullahi Ganduje, as National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress, Deputy Chairman (North), Ali Bukar Dalori, is now presiding over his first National Working Committee meeting in his capacity as Acting National Chairman.

Dalori, along with several NWC members, is currently meeting at the APC National Secretariat in Abuja.
