Edo LP Not In Alliance With APC, PDP, State Chairman Clears Air

Published

on

The Edo State chapter of Labour Party, LP, says it is not “holding consultation or judicial disposition with any political, be it Peoples Democratic Party, PDP, or the All Progressives Congress, APC, as insinuated in some quarters.

This followed rumours making the rounds that the party is going into alliance with Governor Godwin Obaseki and the PDP in state for the forthcoming House of Assembly election in the state.

Addressing the media to make position of the party known in the forthcoming House of Assembly election, state Chairman of the party, Comrade Kelly Ogbaloi, said though going by the massive failure recorded by the parties in the Presidential and National Assembly election, these parties may want to collaborate with the LP, he emphasised that Labour Party will go into the House of Assembly election as independent candidate without any alliance.

He added: “Information reaching the hierarchy of Labour Party is that the PDP have been engaged in last minute manoeuvring, running nocturnal meetings and seeking ways to meet Labour Party House of Assembly candidates. This can be understood from the damning failure they experienced in the polls on 25/02/2023, but we clear with every details that they could be running the bends but certainly not with Labour Party and its House of Assembly candidates.”

Speaking on the outcome of the presidential election, Comrade Ogbaloi said: “Labour Party vehemently request INEC to immediately go back to those units in Edo State whose votes belong to us and conduct fresh election in them just as we bring to the notice of the public, security agencies with definite reference to DSS, that the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) held a meeting on 26/02/2023 and concluded plans to thoroughly re-induce INEC and request them to tinker with the declared Edo South election results. Labour Party resolved that this will be be resisted. INEC be warned.”

While thanking Edo people for the love and support showed to LP in the February 25 Presidential and NASS elections, the party Chairman appealed to Edo people to show the same supports by coming out to vote for LP candidates in the March 11 House of Assembly election.

“We encourage the people of Edo State, our teaming supporters, respected support groups, to come out in full strength and replicate the gallantry we showed in the Presidential and National Assembly elections last Saturday. Don’t be deterred and do not be intimated,” he said.
