Edo: Police Kill Six Suspected Kidnappers In Gun Duel, Recover Arms

Operatives of the Edo State Police Command have killed six suspected Kidnappers who engaged them in a gun duel on Wednesday in Benin, Edo State.

A statement by the command Spokesperson, SP Bello Kontongs said that the kidnappers were part of a notorious gang terrorizing Benin/Lagos Bypass.

The statement read: “Operatives of the Edo State Police Command while on investigation activities along Benin/Lagos bypass, neutralized six suspected kidnappers who are believed to be part of a notorious gang terrorizing the ever busy Benin/Lagos expressway and environs today 13/04/2022.

“Luck ran out on the suspected kidnappers while trying to whisk away passengers of an 18 seater bus they intercepted travelling from Lagos to the East.

“The team of operatives, on sighting the suspected kidnappers engaged them in a gun duel. The superior fire power of the team of police operatives injured six of them and were subsequently arrested, taken to the hospital but confirmed dead by the medical practitioner on duty while others fled in different directions with various degrees of bullet injuries, one pump action was recovered from the scene.

“Meanwhile, alll the passengers onboard were rescued unhurt, profiled and asked to continue their journey. Bush combing is ongoing to arrest other fleeing gang members.”

BREAKING: Scores Trapped As Building Collapses In Kano

Yet-to-be ascertained number of people are currently trapped in the rubble of a building which collapsed in the Kuntau area of Gwale Local Government Area of Kano State.

Sources said at least eleven persons are trapped under the rubble, mostly workers.

Excavation is currently ongoing while some corpses have been recovered.

PHOTOS: FCCPC Raids Supermarkets In Port Harcourt, Seizes Underweight, Re-bagged Rice

Operatives of the Federal Competition and Consumer Protection Commission FCCPC on April 25, raided supermarkets in Port Harcourt, seizing underweight and re-bagged rice.

The commission disclosed this on its X handle.

It wrote:‘’FCCPC’s South-South Zonal Office conducted a routine enforcement operation in some supermarkets in the Woji area of Port Harcourt, Rivers State, targeting underweight and re-bagged rice. Products that were suspected to be substandard were evacuated for further investigation.”

Outrage As Kingsmen Flogged Anambra Man To Death [VIDEO]

An elderly Igbo man has died after he was flogged and tortured by his kinsmen.

Mr. Kenneth, aged 60, died in Nza Ozubulu, Anambra State, hours after being brutally tortured.

A video of the assault has been shared online.

It shows two kinsmen flogging his naked body mercilessly while he cried for help and writhed in pain.

Blood, sweat, and tears mixed on his body as they flogged him.

His hands were bound behind him, preventing him from escaping.

“What did I do?” the man asked repeatedly.

The men flogging him told him that he stole.

Another video shows the man lying lifeless later. Dried blood and open wounds designed his entire body.

It was later announced that he has passed on.

Eyewitnesses claim Mr Kenneth was flogged because he allegedly sold a water tank in his family house and used the money to solve family issues.

Subsequently, his younger brother allegedly arrested him with a vigilante group. He was tortured for hours and died in the process.

Concerned Nigerians have called on the state governor and the police to ensure that the perpetrators are brought to justice.

They are also calling on the government to protect his bereaved wife and children who are being intimidated in their efforts to seek justice for Mr Kenneth.
