An Auchi-based woman in Etsako West Local Government Area of Edo State, Mrs. Queen Okojie, has dragged a Mobile Police Officer, Inspector Monday Aidomoh, to the Edo State Commissioner of Police, Abutu Yaro, alleging threat to her life, assault and illegal seizure of personal property by the officer.
Mrs.Okojie appealed to the Commissioner of Police to bring Inspector Monday Aidomoh to book “as he is not above the law,” as according to her, he is currently parading himself to be, with impunity.
In a petition signed by her lawyer S.A. Ikpea Esq, dated May 12, 2022 and titled “ SUPPRESSION OF REPORTED CASE BY POLICE OF GRUESOME ATTACK, ASSAULT AND THREAT TO LIFE OF MRS QUEEN OKOJIE BY INSPR MONDAY AIDOMOH OF MOPOL 60, IYAMOH”, Mrs. Queen Okojie stated that Inspector Monday Aidomoh had openly boasted to eliminate her under the guise of accidental discharge and nothing will happen thereafter, due to an irreconcilable differences between her and one Netty Abu said to be a lady friend of the embattled police Inspector.
“We are informed by our client that one Inspr Monday Aidomoh of Mopol 60, Iyamoh, has a lady friend by name Netty Abu who runs a store beside our client’s residence.
“Inspr Monday Aidomoh is attached to Setraco/Hartland Estate. He passes by our client’s residence and store when going and coming from the Estate, situate at the far end of the road.
“The relationship between Netty Abu and our client has been so strained because of constant quarrels between them always caused by Netty Abu. In short, Netty Abu has had cause to apologize to our client in a public Newspaper on one occasion and at another had rang bell around Auchi town in her bid to appease our client. Despite the above, she does not want to see our client.
“In his bid to please his lover, Inspr Monday Aidomoh has taken sides with Netty Abu by trying to revenge or fight for her with our client. This has made Inspector Monday Aidomoh to openly boasted to our client that he will eliminate her under the guise of accidental discharge and nothing will happen thereafter. He has on occasions openly called our client “Ashawo” (Harlot) to the hearing of the public”. The petition stated in parts.
The petition which was submitted to the office of the Commissioner of Police in Benin City on May 16, 2022 further alleged that “He (Inspr Monday Aidomoh) subjected our client’s son, Suleiman Amin, a 10 years old child, to frog jump for a distance of over 100ft under the presence that the child poured water on him.
“On 11/12/2021, Inspr Monday Aidomoh met our client in front of her house when our client was about entering her gate in company of one Florence and started reigning insults on her by abusing her with indecent words.
“When she returned the insult, Monday Aidomoh assaulted her by beating, tore her clothes and took her phone (Techno Canon 15) costing over N150, 000. Up till now he has not returned the phone and clothes he tore”.

S.A. Ikpea Esq decried the lukewarm attention the police are giving to his client’s case.
He expressed his disappointment when he referred the Commissioner of Police to his client’s initial petition on the same case.
“In order to avoid repetition, we hereto attach as Annexure “A”, a petition captioned “Petition On A Case Of Gruesome Attack, Assault And Threat To Life Against Inspr Monday Aidomoh Of Mopol 60”, dated 13/12/21, written by J.A Abolagba & Co, a firm of Legal Practitioners. The petition was received by your office on 20/12/21. It contains most of the criminal acts against our client and her child committed by Inspr Monday Aidomoh.
“On receipt of the petition by your office, the matter was referred to your X-squad for investigation and one Inspr Idemudia was made the IPO. Our client was invited by your X-squad. She went there 3 times with her son. They only took her son’s statement but she adopted the contents of her petition.
“The X-squad men came to Jattu and interviewed the DPO at Jattu who confirmed certain facts to them. One Florence made statement to your X-squad as our client’s witness when they came to Auchi. Since that day, Monday Aidomoh has been threatening to deal with Florence.
“She works inside Hartland Estate where Inspr Monday is attached to. He has gone to the relations of Florence and reported to them that he will deal with her and ensure she is sacked from her employment.
“Since then the IPO has been dilly-dallying with the case….As a manifestation of the boasting, nothing has really happened to Monday even when our client has reported the incidents as they happened to your Divisional Police Officer at Jattu, Area Commander’s office at Auchi and now your office,” The petition noted.
However, copies of the said initial petition were sent to the Squadron Commander, Mopol 60, Iyamoh, Edo State, the Managing Director, Hartland Nig. Ltd, Imeke-Uzairue, Edo State, and the Coordinator, Edo State Civil Society Organisation of Nigeria, Auchi Branch, Edo State.
Meanwhile, the state police command has assured that justice would be served in the matter.
The Public Relations Officer for Edo Police Command, SP Chidi Nwanbuzor gave the assurance in Benin City, on Wednesday while giving update of the command’s investigation into the report against the accused officer.

Kebbi State Government has confirmed that a group of armed bandits attacked a Mobile Police post in Makuku, located in the Zuru Local Government Area, and made away with an undisclosed number of rifles.
The Director of Security at the Cabinet Office, Abdulrahman Zagga, disclosed this to journalists in Bagudo Local Government Area on Saturday.
According to Zagga, the mobile police post, which was manned by visiting officers, came under heavy attack from a large group of bandits numbering in the hundreds. Despite engaging the attackers in a fierce gun battle, the officers were ultimately overpowered.
“The bandits burnt a Toyota Hilux patrol vehicle belonging to the unit and escaped with an undisclosed number of rifles,” he stated.

Zagga clarified that it was not a police station that was attacked, as some reports claimed, but a temporary mobile police post. He added that the mobile police officers were forced to withdraw due to the overwhelming number of assailants.
He further revealed that upon learning of the attack, the state government requested air support from the Nigerian Air Force, which helped force the bandits to retreat.
“No casualties were recorded during the incident,” Zagga said. “Most of the bandits infiltrated from neighbouring Zamfara and Niger States.”
He explained that Makuku village shares a border with Niger State, making it vulnerable to such attacks.

Zagga also emphasised that, unlike some neighbouring states, Kebbi State has no peace agreements with any bandit groups or their leaders.
He pointed out that informants remain a major obstacle in the fight against banditry and noted that attacks tend to intensify during the rainy season due to extortion tactics used against farming communities.
“Once they demand money from a community and it is paid, the bandits may temporarily leave that community alone. But once the money runs out, they move on to another community to extort. That’s why many communities remain in constant fear,” he added.
However, Kebbi State Command Police image maker, CSP, Nafiu Abubakar, could not be reached for comment as of the time of filing this report.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the complainant told the court that he takes care of his family adding that he divorced her because she was not submissive.
The judge, Malam Kabir Muhammad after listening to both parties confirmed the three pronouncement of divorce between the couple.
He explained that there was no marriage between the couple until the woman remarries.
“What is before me is a suit on confirmation of divorce; the issue of children custody can be filed as a fresh case,” he said.

An Area Court sitting in Ilorin, Kwara State, has dissolved the Islamic marriage between one Mujidat Abdullahi and Muyideen Raji based on mutual agreement.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the presiding judge, Toyin Aluko, in his ruling said that the husband sent a letter to the court, saying that he has agreed to the divorce application of his wife.
Aluko said that since the two parties have agreed to divorce, there was no need to prolong the case.
He added that marriage should not be forced on anyone.
Aluko, therefore, dissolved their marriage and awarded custody of the only child of their marriage to the wife, due to the child’s young age.
