Enabulele Praises Team Edo for Displaying Resilience, Consistency At Ongoing N’Delta Sports Festival

The Executive Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission, Hon. Amadin Desmond Enabulele has commended Team Edo for upholding discipline, resilience, consistency, and the spirit of sportsmanship at the ongoing Niger Delta Sports Festival (NDSF).
Currently, Team Edo has secured a total of 68 medals (12 gold, 32 silver, and 24 bronze) in the festival that over 3,400 athletes from the nine Niger Delta states are participating.
In a statement issued by his media aide, Edoko Wilson Edoko, the chairman said squad from the Heartbeat State has displayed finesse throughout the tournament, with athletes featuring in most finals, signalling the prospect of even more medals.

The statement reads in part: “This event has given Team Edo the opportunity to build friendships, promote unity, and showcase their talents. The tournament will help the team address its weaknesses and build on the successes already achieved at this festival,” Enabulele said.
He added, “Beyond winning medals, this event is an opportunity to build a formidable team for the upcoming National Sports Festival, scheduled for May in Abeokuta, Ogun State.”
According to the statement, Team Edo’s performance continues to soar, with an increasing medal tally even as the festival winds up tomorrow, April 8, 2025.

“In athletics, aquatics, para powerlifting, para athletics, boxing, football, discus, javelin, handball, and swimming, Team Edo has maintained dominance,” the statement noted.
Edoko In the statement said, Titiloye Kabira (51kg), Lazarus Desmond (52kg), Raheem Ridwan (63.5kg), and Emmanuel Chukwuka (80kg) all emerged as strong contenders for gold and silver medals after defeating their rivals to qualify for Monday’s finals.
Meanwhile, in men’s football, Team Edo defeated Rivers State 1-0 to advance.

EPL: Chelsea Set To Sanction First Summer Transfer Under Alonso
Chelsea are set to sanction their first summer transfer under their new manager, Xabi Alonso.
According to the BBC Sport, the Blues are ‘open’ to selling Filip Jorgensen this summer after the goalkeeper indicated his desire to leave Stamford Bridge.
Jorgensen joined the Premier League west London club two seasons ago from Villarreal.

The 24-year-old shot-stopper was expected to compete for the number one position with goalkeeper Robert Sanchez, but he made just 11 Premier League appearances over the two seasons.
However, while the arrival of Alonso to Stamford Bridge could lead to a change in fortunes for Jorgensen, the report added that the Danish star has already expressed his desire to leave Chelsea this summer to get more regular playing game-time elsewhere.
Chelsea had blocked a potential exit for Jorgensen in the January transfer window, but the Premier League west London club are now open to a sale, with European and English clubs expected to explore a deal for the goalkeeper.

Merson wants Arsenal to sign Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez and a new midfielder.

EPL: Wayne Rooney Picks Most Improved Player This Season
Manchester United legend, Wayne Rooney, has picked the Red Devils defender Luke Shaw as the most improved player in the Premier League following the conclusion of the 2025/26 season.
Speaking on his BBC podcast, Rooney said, “I think, for me, Luke Shaw. I think Luke Shaw has been the most improved player this season.
“I know he is an experienced player now, but I think his level this season has been much better than it has been in recent seasons.
