#Endbadgovernance: Abuja Protesters Abandon Organisers To Fate On Day 6

The roads in Abuja are gradually becoming busy again, as protesters seem to have backed down on further demonstrations.

Channels TV correspondent who monitored events around the FCT, said only the former country director of action aid Nigeria, Ene Obi and Hauwa Mustapha were seen holding a sit-out at the Moshood Abiola stadium on Tuesday.

Tuesday marked the sixth of the #Endbadgovetrnance nationwide protests against hunger and hardship.

Security personnel at the stadium were said to have disallowed anyone who wanted to protest around the designated area.

Journalists on ground to cover the demonstration were also not allowed to stay outside the stadium.

Securities said they were enforcing the court order which confines the protesters to inside of the stadium

The two women who spoke with the media vowed to continue with the sit-out until the expiration of the ten-day demonstration.

“Look at the president speaking to Nigeria. It was a totally empty speech. What are you telling us? Not even one of the demands has been met. And you are telling us to go to the stadium. we are here at the stadium nah. let our children come,” one of the organisers, Ene Obi told journalists.

Obi continued, “Bring down the prices of petroleum products. this is the same government that fought against the removal of fuel subsidy. And the same president has used it to punish Nigerians.

“We are mothers. What they are doing is setting our children against us. Even the police and security agancies- which of them is going to a different market? Their money is useless. They are turning our children against us. We are sitting here, let them teargas us. So many of them, I can give birth to them.

“The mothers in the land are wounded. No employment. Many of our children have gone to school but have no employment. We are calling for an end to bad governance.

“They said you need to appoint one minister from every state. We don’t have minister of state in the constitution. And they are even creating more seats for more ministers to come in.

“There are no signs from the government to show us that they can bring down the cost of governance.”

The development comes following days of violent protests in the nation’s capital, with police operatives firing tear gas at the protesters.

In this case, Veronica Chiluya 30, , sued Sammy Shapi, 40, for divorce due to marital disputes.

Veronica told the court that the two got married in 2014 after Sammy paid K400 as dowry and together they have two children.

A Sharia Court in Kaduna, Kaduna State, has dissolved a two-year-old marriage between a couple, Harira Sanusi and Aliyu Yunusa.

The judge, Malam Salisu Abubakar-Tureta dissolved their marriage following a petition for divorce filed by Harira.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Harira accused Aliyu of calling her parents names and humiliating her.

“He seized my wedding gifts and humiliates me,” she said.

My Husband Threw Me Out After 17yrs of Marriage —Wife

A housewife, Lawal Modupe, has approached an Upper Area Court sitting at Kubwa, Abuja, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), seeking the dissolution of her 17-year-old marriage to her husband, Ismaila on the grounds of lack of love and affection.

Modupe told the court that she got married Ismaila according to Islamic laws.

According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the mother of three stated that her husband sent her out of their matrimonial home on June 17, 2023.
