Fake Degrees: FG To Bring Perpetrators To Book – Tinubu

President Bola Tinubu on Saturday, says Machineries have been put in place to bring the menace of fake degrees to an end and make the perpetrators face the wrath of the law.

The President stated this in Bauchi during the convocation for 19,252 students of the 26th, 27th, 28th and 29th set of the Abubakar Tafawa Balewa University (ATBU), Bauchi state.

Represented by Mr Ochedo James, Director University Education, Federal Ministry of Education, the President assured that his administration would do everything to ensure that universities were improved inline with global best practices.

“I’d like to tell you that the present administration is steadily studying the education sector including the tertiary subsector with the view of finding a blueprint to achieving greater success in service delivery.

“In order to safeguard the sanctity of our graduates, the federal government had noted gradual encroachment of fake degrees certificates acquired by some unpatriotic Nigerians from unscrupulous institutions mostly from beyond the borders of this country.

“Machineries have been put in place to bring this unwholesome threat to an end and those who engage in this shall face the wrath of the law,” he said.

Tinubu, who noted that Nigerian universities had witnessed untold hardship over the years due to frequent strike actions, said that his government was focusing on creation of an enabling environment for sustainable dialogue to bring strike actions by staff union to an end

According to him, the university system in Nigeria has come a long way and has recorded a lot of achievements in training various professionals in every field and experts in various disciplines that were contributing to development not only in the nation but worldwide.

He urged the ATBU to intensify its collaborative efforts with the universities across the globe in order to conceptualise research ideas for the benefits of the country.

“I am aware of the landmark achievements Nigerian academics have recorded in the areas of research in science and technology.

“Few countries in Africa can boast of the robust and vibrant research activities leading to amazing discoveries as been done by Nigerian researchers.

“Your efforts will not go in vain as we are more than ever ready to give you all the support needed for you to do more to ensure that our graduates remain competitive in a reputive changing world,” said the President.

Earlier, Gov. Bala Mohammed of Bauchi state, said his administration would like to absorb the graduated medical students of the institution in a move to address the shortage of medical doctors in the healthcare facilities.

Represented by his Deputy, Mr Auwal Jatau, Mohammed said that ATBU, Bauchi has consistently been a beacon of knowledge and innovation, adding that its stood tall among its contemporaries in the country.

After being buried alive for 24 hours, a Nigerian man, Young C, has been successfully exhumed after spending 24 hours buried alive in a coffin.

This feat was announced on his Instagram account on Thursday afternoon, accompanied by the revelation that his TikTok account had been suspended.

Earlier, Young C had updated his Instagram account, reassuring his followers that he was still alive and in good condition, despite experiencing physical discomfort and running out of water.

Young C embarked on this challenge on Wednesday, announcing his intention to be buried alive for 24 hours and broadcasting live footage from the coffin at night.

Young C’s feat bears resemblance to a similar challenge undertaken by American YouTuber MrBeast (Jimmy Donaldson), who spent 50 hours buried alive two years ago to raise awareness about deforestation. Recently, MrBeast attempted to surpass his record by spending 7 consecutive days buried in a coffin, overcoming physical and mental challenges before being exhumed.

JUST IN: Panic As Oyo Demolishes Shops In Popular Ibadan Market

Panic gripped residents and traders of the popular Ojoo market in the Akinyele Local Government Area of Oyo State as the government demolished scores of shops and kiosks in the area, on Thursday.

The PUNCH gathered that the Ministry of Lands, Housing and Urban Development had served the traders quit notice a long time ago but they refused to move out of the market.

The Chairman of the market, Muhdeen Ganiyu, fondly called Elewedu, however, told our correspondent that the quit notice was too short but the executive members of all the affected markers would meet after the demolition exercise.

The quit notice was too short. All executive members of all the affected markers will soon meet. So, I cannot say anything for now,” he stated.

When contacted, the Commissioner for Lands, Housing and Urban Development, Williams Akin-Funmilayo, confirmed the ongoing demolition exercise.

He said, “The State Governor, Seyi Makinde, had gone there personally to address them. The government will provide another place. That place is dangerous. And the new place is not far. Just at the front of the Barracks.”

BREAKING: Reps To Probe Lagos-Calabar Coastal Highway Procurement Process

The House of Representatives has resolved to investigate the procurement process of the Lagos Calabar coastal highway.

This followed the adoption of a motion of urgent national Importance moved by Austine Achado (APC, Benue) during plenary on Thursday.

Moving the motion, Achado maintained that the contract award did not follow due process and did not get approval from the National Assembly.
