FECHA Vows To Revamp African Culture Through Fashion Exhibitions In Edo

As the crave for the western culture increases by the day and people tend to jettison their culture for the western world, the Chief Executive Officer, Face of Edo Cultural Heritage Award (FECHA) Projects Fashion Design and Exhibition Hub, Friday Eguakhide has chosen to turn the table around and return the people of Africa back to their root by showcasing their artistic works, well crafted and knitted traditional outfits suitable for marriages, birthday, house warming and other social functions.

Addressing Journalist ahead of the forthcoming event in Benin, he said it was the right time for Africans to show the world what they got and how talented they are.

The Executive Officer, FECHA Projects Fashion Design and Exhibition said his organization has been able to carve a niche for itself over the years by promoting the artistic works of the African people.

He said today, African attires have become the most sought after due to the activities of FECHA that has been in the vanguard of pushing for its acceptability among the comity of nations.

Eguakhide said FECHA which is now a household name in Nigeria through its knack for excellence in promoting Africa fabrics and designs, has vowed to remain on top of the game.

He said through this fashion design exhibition, Africa rich cultural heritage will be displayed through the traditional attires.

He said the event is also meant to reawaken the consciousness of the people on the need to embrace their tradition and culture which is almost going into extinction.

You see, people are known and identified most often times with the way they dress. When you see an Igbo man, you are able to know the part of the Nigerian state he comes from. So also other tribes but surprisingly, most Nigerians are shy to put on their traditional wears. Is time to modernized our traditional attires and sell to the world.

“I believe, we need to go back to our roots and you know that we are Edo and we are proud to identify with our roots.

“This is what this fashion design exhibition stands to enforce”, Eguakhide said.

Eguakhide, while speaking further on the activities of the FECHA Projects, said it has been able to empower the youths across the states and turned their minds away from crimes because he believes that an idle mind is the devil’s workshop.

“We have been able to empower most of our youths with various skills through this FECHA Projects and made them useful for themselves and for the society because you know that an idle mind is the devil’s workshop.

“You truly know that a large number of our youths are not employed. The government alone cannot do it. So, we decided to bridge the gap, with this FECHA Projects Fashion Design and Exhibition FASHIONDESIGN .

” 2017 was the beginning of the story, 2020 we created a landmarks and 2022, we had this project and it was a huge success and we hope to replicate same next year.

“I want to say that we stand to promote arts and culture , fashion design exhibition, while creating employment for the youths and facilitating development in the country” Eguakhide said.

VDM: Anyone Who Fights Inside Aircraft Deserves Life Imprisonment – Portable

Controversial singer, Habeeb Okikiola Badmus, popularly known as Portable, has reacted to the viral clash between activist Martins Otse, popularly known as VeryDarkMan, and comedian, Freedom Okpetoritse Atsepoyi, better known as Mr Jollof, saying anyone who engages in a fight inside an aircraft deserves life imprisonment.

In a viral video shared on social media, Portable condemned the act and questioned why anyone would choose to fight on board a plane.

He said, “Anybody weh fight inside plane, whether na locally or internationally, na ewon gbere (life imprisonment). You go end your life in prison ni ooo, like billionaires dey enter plane, you wan dey fear rich people?, you see your enemy for ground oooo, you no fight am, you see am when you dey board, you no fight am oo, why you dey fight am inside plane.”

Portable also mocked both men as he analysed the fight, “VeryDarkman and Mr Jollof, I see where VeryDarkMan dey jollof Mr Jollof, dey use blow dey jollof am, and even VeryDarkMan no sabi throw blow, Mr Jollof energy cover your body, your body just big for nothing, you use your body cover the man, I hear say Mr Jollof turn your body to chicken.”

He added that even with claims that VeryDarkMan once allegedly received money to confront him, the activist still struggled in the fight with Mr. Jollof.

Recall that Tribune Online reported that Social media influencers VeryDarkMan and Mr. Jollof on Monday engaged in a heated physical altercation on a United Nigeria Airlines flight from Asaba to Lagos.

Eyewitnesses reported that the disagreement escalated into a mild brawl, with crew members and passengers attempting to intervene.

“If you are not comfortable with the fact that some fans can broke shame you if they see you driving a car they consider below your level, then you are going to continue adjusting to their expectations. And that is how you go broke. You go broke trying to adjust to people’s expectations.

“One of the things that Nigerians are concerned about is their perceptions. And statistically, we are a country where most people don’t have money. It took me time to mentally prepare myself to accept being broke shamed. All our celebrities who were flying private jets 20 years ago are no longer affluent,” he expressed.
