First Set Of Edo Varsity Medical Graduates Inducted

The Registrar, Medical and Dental Council of Nigeria (MDCN) has advised new inductees from Edo State University, Uzairue, to take the medical profession seriously.

The inductees, numbering about 37 were the first graduands of Bachelor of Medicine ( MB) and Bachelor of Surgery ( MS) of the university.

Performing the induction and oath-taking ceremony, the Registrar said the induction was a call to service, humanity, urging them to be compassionate in their dealings with patients.

This profession is like paramilitary. There are many dos and don’t. The responsibility attached to it is more than the excitement you have today.

“We are dealing with human life therefore you must ensure that you do no harm to any individual”, he said

He commended the state government for the support towards the establishment of the university’s medical school.

The Registrar also thanked the Edo State government for upgrading the fomer Auchi General Hospital to Edo State University Uzairue Teaching Hospital which, according to him, the council had accredited for housemanship for young doctors.

Earlier in his address, Professor Emmanuel Aluyor, the Vice Chancellor of the university described the ceremony as a significant milestone in the history of education in Nigeria.

Aluyor, who congratulated the inductees noted that their persistent, resilience, dedication and unwavering commitment to
becoming medical professionals had enabled them to complete the rigorous program in record time.

According to him, none of this would have been possible without the exceptional faculty members and trainers who guided and mentored these students.

Your passion for teaching, dedication to your craft, your unwavering commitment to excellence have molded these students into competent and compassionate medical professionals.

“The induction of the MBBS CLASS of 2022 remind us of the immense impact these newly trained physicians will have on the society, their expertise, compassionate and commitment to healing will undoubtedly ameliorate health issues not only in Nigeria but also across the globe”,he added.

He, however, commended the parents and guardians of the inductees for their unwavering support and confidence in the university, saying that their faith, constant encouragement and sacrifices for the institution has been instrumental to the success of these brilliant young minds.

Xenophobic Attacks: Nigerian Students To Picket MTN, MultiChoice, Other Businesses

The leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS South-West Zone D, has announced plans to picket South African companies in Nigeria following the ongoing xenophobic attacks in the country.

DAILY POST reports that some Nigerians were recently killed in South Africa over the violent attacks.

A statement issued to newsmen by Comrade Adeyemo Josiah Kayode, Coordinator, NANS South-West, Zone D, said that the association is mobilizing to take decisive and lawful action by organizing peaceful picketing and mass advocacy against South African business interests operating in Nigeria.

“We categorically state that the continued targeting of Nigerians under any guise is unacceptable and must come to an immediate end.

N5m, N10m Zero-interest Loans: SheVentures Opens Applications For Women Entrepreneurs

First City Monument Bank (FCMB) has opened a new round of applications for its SheVentures proposition, offering zero-interest loans of up to ₦10 million to women entrepreneurs to ease access to working capital and support business growth.

The facility provides loans ranging from ₦500,000 to ₦5 million under a general category, and ₦5 million to ₦10 million for sector-specific businesses, with funding capped at up to 50% of an applicant’s average monthly turnover.

At the centre of the offering is a 0% interest rate, with all charges embedded in a transparent structure.

Repayment is structured over four or six months, allowing businesses to match obligations with their cash flow cycles.
