Five Dead, 12 Injured In Lagos-Ibadan Road Crash

Five people died while 12 others were reportedly injured in an early morning crash on Sunday around the Foursquare camp, Ajebo on the Lagos-Ibadan expressway when a DAF truck with registration number KMC- 810ZB lost control after having a burst tyre and occupied the road while a Toyota bus with registration number TMA 244XA and another Mitsubishi pickup without registration number ran into the truck.
This was according to a statement from the Spokesperson of Ogun State Sector Command of Federal Road Safety Corps, Florence Okpe.
The injured victims were said to have been taken to Victory Hospital, Ogere, for medical attention while the corpses were deposited at FOS Morgue, Ipara Remo.

The statement partly reads, “FRSC Ogunmakin unit Command carried out a rescue operation at the early hours of Sunday morning at about 0615 hrs on Lagos-Ibadan expressway few meters before Foursquare camp and the rescue operation was done with the help of the Nigeria Police
“A total of 21 persons were involved in a multiple crash and all male adult. 12 people were injured and unfortunately, five persons were recorded dead from the road traffic crash and the remaining unhurt.
“Three vehicles were involved with registration numbers KMC- 810ZB a DAF truck, TMA- 244XA a Toyota bus and a Mitsubishi pickup with no registration number on it.

“The suspected causes of the crash were speed, tyre bust and loss of control on the part of the truck driver whose vehicle crashed and occupied the road and others were running into the crashed vehicle.
“The injured victims were taken to Victory Hospital Ogere for medical attention while the corpses were deposited at FOS Morgue, Ipara Remo.”
Meanwhile, the FRSC Ogun State Sector Commander, Anthony Uga has advised motorists to shun the use of sub-standard tyres and also apply common sense speed limit, especially in this rainy season.
He also sympathises with the families of the victims and enjoined them to visit the FRSC Ogunmakin unit for more information about the crash.

Kabushi Local Government, Zambia, has heard how a married man changed after buying a BMW vehicle as it gave him confidence to go after other women.
In this case, Veronica Chiluya 30, , sued Sammy Shapi, 40, for divorce due to marital disputes.
Veronica told the court that the two got married in 2014 after Sammy paid K400 as dowry and together they have two children.

According to Zambia Daily Mail, she said all was well until 2021 when her husband bought a car after he went to do some work outside the country.
“He started coming back home late and sometimes he would come the next day around 14:00 hours.

A Sharia Court in Kaduna, Kaduna State, has dissolved a two-year-old marriage between a couple, Harira Sanusi and Aliyu Yunusa.
The judge, Malam Salisu Abubakar-Tureta dissolved their marriage following a petition for divorce filed by Harira.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), Harira accused Aliyu of calling her parents names and humiliating her.
“He will often throw out my suitcases and other belongings.

“He seized my wedding gifts and humiliates me,” she said.
She prayed the court to order Aliyu to allow her access to her belongings.

My Husband Threw Me Out After 17yrs of Marriage —Wife

A housewife, Lawal Modupe, has approached an Upper Area Court sitting at Kubwa, Abuja, Federal Capital Territory (FCT), seeking the dissolution of her 17-year-old marriage to her husband, Ismaila on the grounds of lack of love and affection.
Modupe told the court that she got married Ismaila according to Islamic laws.
According to the News Agency of Nigeria (NAN), the mother of three stated that her husband sent her out of their matrimonial home on June 17, 2023.

“I do not love him anymore and I want the court to dissolve our marriage,” she said.
