A clash between Obayantor community in Ikpoba Okha Kocal Government Area of Edo State and the Nigeria Army has led to the death of four persons.
The clash, which was said to have occurred over the weekend was between youths of the community and the army.
It was gathered that there has been leadership tussle in the community following the removal of the community youth head (Okhaegele) and installed a new one.
Trouble was said to have started when someone hired soldiers to the community with a view to reclaiming the Okhaegele.
A community member who disclosed this but craved anonymity said in the process of the hired soldiers attempting to reclaim the Okhaegele, fracas ensured and the process soldiers were killed.
He said the soldiers later came in a reprisal attack on the community killing four youth members to avenge the death of their colleagues.

A source within the community said the soldiers came in large numbers and started firing sporadically while the people scampered for safety and killed four persons in the process.
He said the soldiers have taken over the community harassing innocent residents who are going about their businesses.
The spokesperson of 4brigade headquarters of the Nigeria Army Benin, Yemi Sokoya, denied the report that soldiers were hired to the community and killing of two soldiers.
“Soldiers were not hired to the community and soldiers were killed, it was not a reprisal attack but an operation base on intelligence of stockpilling arms”
“The operation in Obayantor community was done in collaboration with Directorate of State Service. The DSS hinted us that hoodlums are stockpiling weapon and terrorising the community and the way the country is ( kidnapping, banditry among others) no responsible commander will hear such and fold his hands.
“So, we went there with the DSS who actually gave us the information and before we got there, they opened fire on the troop who responded but to the glory of God we were able to clear the community and recover some arms and ammunition”.
He said the soldiers didn’t go there because of leadership tussle but on the intelligence that arms are being stockpiled there, saying they are not interested in any rivalry in the community.
He said they recovered three English pump action gun, two AK-47 riflles, one double barrel gun 32 live catriges, phones and Identify cards belonging to vigilante found in the pockets of the criminals.

The Imo State Police Command confirmed the incident on Monday and has launched a manhunt to apprehend those responsible.
The incident occurred around 9:00 a.m. near Finas Gas Station, along the Okigwe-Umuahia Road, specifically in the Old Gariki area of Okigwe, which sources described as a “dangerous zone.”

ASP Casmir, who was leading the patrol team, has been missing since the attack, leading to fears that he may have been abducted and possibly killed. Other members of his team managed to return to base with their rifles and are currently receiving medical attention.
Police spokesman Henry Okoye stated that preliminary findings suggest the attackers are affiliated with the proscribed Indigenous People of Biafra (IPOB) and its armed wing, the Eastern Security Network (ESN).
“An intense operation is ongoing to apprehend the miscreants responsible for the attack,” Okoye said. He added, “We are aware that some may question why IPOB is being mentioned, but we cannot ignore confessional statements by suspects who openly associate their actions with the group. As a law enforcement agency, it is our duty to report facts as uncovered during investigations.”
