A young man, identified as Inneh Andreas Osaigbovo, who is a bisexual, has been reportedly escaped from Police custody while being taken to court in Benin City, the State Capital of Edo State.
Osaigbovo, age 28, was to be arraigned in Court on a 2 count-charge bordering on Homosexuality and instigating a breach of public peace, which he allegedly committed with his male lover who has earlier escaped at the scene of crime on December 8, 2022.
Homosexuality, according to Nigeria Laws, is a crime which when found guilty, attracts a jail term of 14-years.

According to police prosecutor, Inspector John Ogbemudia, the accused had confessed to have committed the crime.
In his statement, he stated that he was initiated into the act by some gang of friends some years back and he had never been caught in the act.
He, however, said on December 8, 2022, he was on the process of canal sex with his male lover, Titus Odion, who was 19 year old, when the community youth leader acting on intelligent report storm his house with the community vigilante and they were caught in the act of homosexuality, an act classified as a taboo in the community.
The accused was caught in his house at No.16, Uyiosa Street, Off Upper Sakponba Road, Okia Quarters , Ikpoba -Okha Local Government Area of Benin City.
His lover reportedly escaped on the process, but Osaigbovo was not so lucky as he was brutalized by the youth and was almost lynch, but for timely intervention of the Police who rescued from the scene of jungle justice.

He was subsequently arrested and taken to the station, where he made confessional statement to the police, and claimed that he is bisexual, and also an activist in gayism initiation.
Inspector John said, Osaigbovo, was freed by his activist gang on their way to Court on December 18, 2022.
He, however, assured that the accused would be rearrested soon as the community youths are working with police to track him down, and he would be made to face the full wrath of the Law of the Land.
Meanwhile, the spokesman of the Edo State Police Command, SP Chidi Nwanbuzor, called on anybody with useful information that would lead to the rearrest of the accused, to make such information available to the State Police Command.
