How Depression Shaped My Music — Cameroonian Artiste

Published

on

A Cameroonian afrobeats and hip hop artiste, George Yungo, aka Big Hookz, has said that battling depression had an impact on shaping his musical outlook.

In a statement sent to Sunday Scoop, he said, “At one point, I was fighting depression, where everything just seemed to be crumbling. I lost a lot of my business dealings, and I was down financially. However, that situation helped me to face myself, and I stayed close to God. It made me to go extremely hard in looking for ways of generating income, so I could go to the studio and record music with those experiences. Indeed, what I went through shaped my musical delivery. I learnt more about the music business, and the songs I released after that were successful.”

The singer also stated that he would like to work with artistes such as Angelique Kidjo, Koffi Olomide, 2Baba, Faze, Duncan Mighty, Burna Boy, Davido, and Olamide.
