A chieftain of the All Progressives Congress (APC), Osagie Ize-iyamu, weekend, condemned the recent assassination attempt on the former Edo State Attorney General and Commissioner of Justice, Henry Idahagbon.

The former Secretary to Edo State government made the condemnation during a solidarity visit to Idahagbon’s office in Benin.

He noted that Idahagbon is the immediate past Attorney-General and one of those who started the campaign for Godwin Obaseki, hence the government is expected to be in the forefront of condemning the act but unfortunately the government is silence.

“Those who did this must have a serious rethink because once they begin to spray bullets at a house, you know the possibility of stray bullet touching people is quite high and I think that we must thank God that nobody died.

“If there have been death definitely it would have been very difficult to tell people to keep quiet and not retaliate. The fact that people choose to be peaceful does not mean they are weak.

“I want to advice that they should follow a more civilized and peaceful approach and it is also shameful that this kind of thing will happen and the government will not condemn it. No matter the level of disagreement we have, we all belong to the same political party”, he added.
