Ignore Report That Labour Party Conducted Its Primaries In Edo Govt House, Party Chair Urges Residents

The Edo State chapter of Labour Party (LP) has refuted report making the rounds that the party conducted its primaries in Edo State Government House, Benin.
The party was reacting to report by some online platforms that, ahead of the 2023 elections, the party primaries were conducted at the Edo State Government House and that it was supervised by Governor Godwin Obaseki of the state.
A statement signed by the,
Comrade Kelly Ogbalor, state party chairman and made available to INFO DAILY in Benin, urged Edo people to ignore such report, which according to him was written with “low intellectual ability and journalistic incompetence.”

He added that Labour Party is an independent political party that is not in any form a unit or department in Government House.
His statement reads in part: “Our attention has been drawn to a report making the rounds in some online platforms that Labour Party conducted its primaries in Edo State Government House, and that it was supervised by Edo State governor, Mr. Godwin Obaseki.
“Ordinarily, we would have ignored the report written by a man known for mischief making and peddling lies, but for the interest of Edo people and to set the record straight so not to be misled by the report, I want to unequivocally states that the primaries of our party, Labour party held conspicuously across all electoral districts, local govt/constituencies with INEC observing at clearly designated areas.”
“Let it be clear that labour party is independent and a distinct party of its own. It is never a department in government house as in the poor opinion of the writer.
“Labour party lives in Edo state, the writer also did not consider it wise to establish our side of the matter by reaching out but went straight to the press and published such one sided, unbalance, and bedraggled report. He finds to need in that as soon as the pay masters sent his salaries.
“I urge Edo people to totally ignore such report that lacks professional and journalist ethics of fairness, balance. and accurate.”
He challenged those peddling such report to come up with photograph, videos to prove that Edo State Labour Party held his primary election at Government House, if they are sure of their report.

He, however, thanked the people of Edo State for the massive support and nod of acceptance they are giving to Labour Party presidential candidate.
He further called on those who have not gotten their Permanent Voting Card (PVC) to do that as the upcoming election, adding that it is the only opportunity ordinary masses have to repositioned Nigeria.
On his part, state Publicity Secretary of the party, Comrade Sam Uroupadei, challenged the writers to re-develop themselves in order to be appropriately conversant with the ethics of their chosen career and to “remove themselves from this shameful and ignoble act of being grossly undone.” (Sic).
