‘I’m Not Afraid Of Death, Only Poverty’ – Peter Okoye

Famous Nigerian singer, Peter Okoye, also known as Mr P, has revealed that his greatest fear is poverty.

Speaking on a recent episode of the Nancy Isime Show, Mr P said he is not afraid of death, but of being poor.

Recounting a childhood experience when his family’s rented single-room apartment was demolished after the landlord sold the property, the singer said he does not wish to return to poverty.

He said: “I am not afraid of death. The only thing I am afraid of in this life is poverty, of being broke.

“I have tasted it [poverty] before. I have been in our house with my parents and siblings and a bulldozer came and demolished it.

“We were living in a boys’ quarter, me, my mum, my dad, all of us. The whole family, six boys and two girls living in a one-bedroom apartment.

“They had to divide the room with a curtain. So, the landlord had sold the compound, we were trying to plead to get some time to plan our relocation and then a bulldozer came and started demolishing the house while we were still in the building.”

Musician Teniola Apata, better known as Teni, has reacted to 2Face Idibia’s call for help on social media.

In a short message posted on his Instagram Story on Wednesday, 2Face wrote, “Help me.”

It was the first time he was making a public comment since the controversy involving him and his wife, Edo State lawmaker Natasha Osawaru, began trending online.

Reacting to the post, Teni posted a video on Instagram, calling on co-singers Timaya and Kcee to intervene.

“2face my legend, we’re coming to save you,” she captioned the video.

2Face’s latest troubles reportedly started in the United Kingdom, where he and his wife were said to have had a heated exchange that allegedly attracted police intervention and led to the singer’s brief arrest.

Nigerian music legend Tuface Idibia, also known as 2baba, has urged fans and well-wishers to remain calm amid reports of a marital crisis with his wife, Natasha.

In a video message shared on his Facebook page, the singer described the situation as “getting out of hand” and “dangerous,” warning that the ongoing speculation could put his wife at risk.

“I know what fans can do, I know what people can do. I am perfectly okay. But this is putting Natasha at risk. It’s not fair to anyone,” 2Baba said.

Asake leads the chart with “Why Love,” the biggest Nigerian song of 2025. The track marked a major shift in his career as it was released under his new independent label, Giran Republic, signalling his official exit from his former label, YBNL.
