Imansuangbon Donates Food Items IDP In Edo, Sues For Honour For Humanitarian Workers

Labour Party governorship aspirant in the 2024 Edo State governorship election, Barrister Kenneth Imansuangbon, on Tuesday donated loads of food items and other consumables to the Internally Displaced Persons (IDP) camp in Uhogua, Ovia North East Local Government Area of Edo State.

Imansuangbon, popularly called ‘riceman’, while donating the food items, urged the Federal Government to pay more attention to humanitarian workers who provide support to vulnerable Nigeria displaced by war, disaster or conflicts.

The philanthropist, who was accompanied on the visit by his wife, Kate Imansuangbon, also called for support for the camp.

He lamented that some persons with questionable characters are often recognised thereby diminishing efforts of those whose selfless humanitarian work had impacted positively on the lives of downtrodden.

According to him, his visit to the facility was to show his compassion for the inhabitants and the founder of the Home for the Needy, Pastor Solomon Folorunsho, who manages the facility.

He added that the visit was not to solicit for votes as most politicians do during elections period, but purely on charity and compassion.

He called on the youths and children not to lose hope but to focus on their education so that they can grow up to be men and women of honour whose impact would be felt in nation building.

He said, “If we have a country where things are done well, Pastor Folorunsho is due for a national honor, and I am therefore calling on President Tinubu to give national honour to those that deserve it like it is done in America.

“National honour shouldn’t be given to people with tainted or questionable character or dishonorable people. They should be for those that have impacted lives like Pastor Folorunsho.

“Nigeria must discover itself under President Tinubu to correct this. Pastor Folorusho has inspired development for the country, so that people will know that when you help the poor you are developing the charging.

He called on the Edo State Governor, Monday Okpebholo, to come to the aid of the children, just as he commended the governor for hitting the ground running.

He also called on the Minister of Humanitarian Affairs to come to assist the camp.

On her part, Imansuangbon’s wife, Kate, stressed that their visit to the camp was to tell the inhabitants that they’re loved and there are people out there who care for them.

She added that the Christmas season visit and donation of foods and clothings to the inhabitants was initiated by her husband to show his compassion for them.

In his response, Pastor Folorunsho thanked the visitors for their show of love and appealed for further help especially as it relates to helping to engage some of their graduates who are in need of job placement.

In a related development, Imansuangbon had earlier visited the widow of late Frank Okafi Erewele where he sympathised with the family and also donated food items to them.

He described the late Erewele as great politician whose impacts in the political environment in the state.

Imansuangbon, describing the late politician as his political father, added that Kate Erewele house was like a Macca where many visit for his hospitality, and also learn.

Xenophobic Attacks: Nigerian Students To Picket MTN, MultiChoice, Other Businesses

The leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS South-West Zone D, has announced plans to picket South African companies in Nigeria following the ongoing xenophobic attacks in the country.

DAILY POST reports that some Nigerians were recently killed in South Africa over the violent attacks.

A statement issued to newsmen by Comrade Adeyemo Josiah Kayode, Coordinator, NANS South-West, Zone D, said that the association is mobilizing to take decisive and lawful action by organizing peaceful picketing and mass advocacy against South African business interests operating in Nigeria.

“We categorically state that the continued targeting of Nigerians under any guise is unacceptable and must come to an immediate end.

N5m, N10m Zero-interest Loans: SheVentures Opens Applications For Women Entrepreneurs

First City Monument Bank (FCMB) has opened a new round of applications for its SheVentures proposition, offering zero-interest loans of up to ₦10 million to women entrepreneurs to ease access to working capital and support business growth.

The facility provides loans ranging from ₦500,000 to ₦5 million under a general category, and ₦5 million to ₦10 million for sector-specific businesses, with funding capped at up to 50% of an applicant’s average monthly turnover.

At the centre of the offering is a 0% interest rate, with all charges embedded in a transparent structure.

Repayment is structured over four or six months, allowing businesses to match obligations with their cash flow cycles.
