Insecurity: All Is In Place For A Peaceful Christmas, New Year In Edo – Aziegbemi

Dr. Tony Aziegbemi, Edo State chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party (PDP), says governor of the state, Mr. Godwin Obaseki, is doing everything possible to curb insecurity that is rife in the state.

He assured residents of the state that Governor Obaseki has put in place security mechanism that will guarantee peaceful Christmas and new year celebration.

The PDP chairman who disclosed this Wednesday in Benin during a press briefing, noted that the state governor is having a sleepless night over the insecurity in the state, just as he added that one of the priorities of the Governor is to secure the lives of ‘Edolites’.

“As for the insecurity we have in the land, I can assure you, Edo people, the governor is not sleeping; he is on top of the situation, and as I said earlier, this year’s Christmas and new year will ever be the best you have not had.

“The security plan which is at it implementation stage will guarantee you a peaceful Christmas and new year celebration. You will be seeing some of the security measures on our road within the next two weeks,” he said.

Dr. Aziegbemi, while stating that the Governor is putting in place an industrial park that will generate over N10 billion naira to the state’s confers, added that the state civil service reformed which is in progress will be one of the best in the country after the the complete reformation.

“The civil service in the state will be the best once we are done with the reformation programme being put in place by our governor.

“An industrial park is coming up with a potential of raising about N10 billion into our confers in the state,” he said.

Speaking on the state’s politics, Dr. Aziegbemi said what is need in the state politics is quiet and decorum so as to allow the governor focus in governance and deliver on the promises made during the electioneering.

He added, “Absolute quiet is what we demand at the political front. We are guaranteeing him absolute quiet at the political front, so he will have time to do what he ought to for Edo people, and that is the interest of the PDP. We want our party to deliver on the promises made during campaign.”

Xenophobic Attacks: Nigerian Students To Picket MTN, MultiChoice, Other Businesses

The leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS South-West Zone D, has announced plans to picket South African companies in Nigeria following the ongoing xenophobic attacks in the country.

DAILY POST reports that some Nigerians were recently killed in South Africa over the violent attacks.

A statement issued to newsmen by Comrade Adeyemo Josiah Kayode, Coordinator, NANS South-West, Zone D, said that the association is mobilizing to take decisive and lawful action by organizing peaceful picketing and mass advocacy against South African business interests operating in Nigeria.

“We categorically state that the continued targeting of Nigerians under any guise is unacceptable and must come to an immediate end.

N5m, N10m Zero-interest Loans: SheVentures Opens Applications For Women Entrepreneurs

First City Monument Bank (FCMB) has opened a new round of applications for its SheVentures proposition, offering zero-interest loans of up to ₦10 million to women entrepreneurs to ease access to working capital and support business growth.

The facility provides loans ranging from ₦500,000 to ₦5 million under a general category, and ₦5 million to ₦10 million for sector-specific businesses, with funding capped at up to 50% of an applicant’s average monthly turnover.

At the centre of the offering is a 0% interest rate, with all charges embedded in a transparent structure.

Repayment is structured over four or six months, allowing businesses to match obligations with their cash flow cycles.
