JUST IN: Another Catholic Priest Kidnapped

Another Catholic priest identified as Rev Fr Emmanuel Silas was abducted in Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State early hours of Monday.

Fr Silas, who is in charge of St. Charles Catholic Church, Zambina in Kauru LGA, was reported missing after he failed to appear for morning mass.

The Chancellor, Kafanchan Catholic Diocese, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Okolo disclosed the sad news in a statement on Monday.

He, however, urged the christian community to remain calm as legitimate processes are being exploited to ensure his safe and quick release.

Fr Okolo was quoted to have said in the statement: “It is with great pain that we announce to you the kidnapping of our Priest, Rev. Fr. Emmanuel Silas. The sad event is believed to have occurred in the early hours of July 04, 2022, when he could not turn up for morning Mass.

“He was abducted from the parish rectory at St. Charles Catholic Church, Zambina, in Kauru Local Government Area of Kaduna State.

“While we solicit for an intense prayer for his quick and safe release, we equally wish to call on all and sundry to refrain from taking the laws into their hands. We will use every legitimate means to ensure his quick and safe release.”

Lately bandits have been unleashing mayhem on christians in the state, mostly targeting catholic priests.

Barely two weeks ago, Reverend Father Vitus Borogo was killed and his brother abducted by bandits while working on his farm. He was laid to rest last week in the state capital.

Other catholic priests were also kidnapped in Katsina, Edo among other states between last month and now, amidst rising spate of attacks on Christian community by the hoodlums in recent times.

Police Arrest Suspected Fake Lawyer In Ogun

The Zone XI Police Headquarters has arrested a suspected fake lawyer identified as Emmanuel Odeh, parading himself as a qualified attorney for almost 10 years mostly in Lagos and Abuja.

According to The PUNCH, Odeh has been allegedly duping unsuspecting Nigerians under the guise of legal representation, estate agency, and public consultancy.

This was disclosed in a statement issued on Saturday by the Zonal Police Public Relations Officer, Ade Ogunyemi, who disclosed Odeh was arrested by operatives of the X-Squad Section of the Zone, led by ACP Akinloye Oyegade.

He explained that Odeh was arrested on Thursday at a court in Abeokuta, Ogun State, while appearing as counsel for a client.

Emmanuel Odeh was arrested on Thursday, August 28, 2025, at a court premises in Abeokuta, Ogun State, while standing as a legal representative for an unsuspecting client.

“ACP Oyegade stated that the self-acclaimed lawyer had been under investigation for impersonation and fraud.

“Investigations revealed that the suspect operated under the name A O EMMANUEL, LEGAL PRACTITIONER AND PUBLIC CONSULTANT,” the statement partly read.

Ogunyemi said the Assistant Inspector General of Police in charge of Zone XI Headquarters, Osogbo, Emuobo Ekokotu, urged Nigerians to always verify the authenticity of legal practitioners before engaging their services.

AIG Ekokotu described the case as another clear example of why Nigerians must be vigilant.

This case underscores the dangers of dealing with unverified legal practitioners.

“Victims of such impostors risk losing their hard-earned money, suffering inadequate legal representation, having their cases compromised, and even facing damage to their reputation,” he said.

He warned that the police will not hesitate to bring impersonators to justice.

This incident should serve as a deterrent to criminal-minded individuals who falsely present themselves as lawyers in order to exploit innocent citizens.

“The long arm of the law will always catch up with them,” Ekokotu stated.

Ogunyemi confirmed that the suspect would be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations.

NAFDAC Seals Lagos Skincare Facility Over Illegal Bleaching Products

The National Agency for Food and Drug Administration and Control has sealed an illegal cosmetic production facility, Shine Shine Skincare, located in Agege, Lagos State, following the discovery of unregistered and hazardous bleaching products being manufactured under substandard conditions.

The operation, conducted by NAFDAC officials, revealed a range of products falsely marketed as “organic” and safe for use, despite being produced in violation of Good Manufacturing Practices.

Shine Shine Skincare, which has 100,000 followers on Instagram under the handle of its founder, Devine Nikiruka Adebayo, was found to be producing unregistered products such as Peeling White Scrub, Glass Scrub Wash, Antiaging Radiant Glow, and Customised Whitening Black Soap.

According to NAFDAC in a statement on its X account on Sunday, the items were discovered to contain unsafe levels of banned substances.

“Investigations revealed that such deceptively formulated products often contain unsafe levels of banned substances, including corticosteroid-based bleaching agents, which can cause severe health risks such as skin thinning, delayed healing, and increased vulnerability to injury,” the statement read.

NAFDAC urged the public to remain vigilant when purchasing cosmetic and other regulated products.

VIDEO: Fire Averted As Fuel Tanker Explodes In Lagos

A petroleum tanker carrying Premium Motor Spirit overturned and went up in flames on Sunday at Iyana-Isolo, inward Oshodi, Lagos.

According to The PUNCH, the fire quickly spread to at least four parked trucks in the area, but quick intervention by officials of the Lagos State Traffic Management Authority helped prevent a larger disaster.

Traffic was then diverted from Ilasa inward Oshodi as the scene was cordoned off.

Preliminary investigations by LASTMA indicated that the accident was caused by overspeeding, which made the tanker driver lose control of the vehicle.

Confirming the incident in a statement, LASTMA General Manager, Olalekan Bakare-Oki, said operatives from adjoining zones were mobilised to support the response, working alongside the Lagos State Fire and Rescue Service, the Nigeria Police Force (Aswani, Ilasa, and Mushin Divisions), and the Lagos Neighbourhood Safety Corps.

“No human casualties were recorded, thanks to the swift intervention of LASTMA operatives and other agencies.

“The preservation of life and property is at the core of our operations.

“We remain committed to ensuring a safe and orderly traffic management system across Lagos State,” Bakare-Oki said.
