A former aide to President Muhammadu Buhari and Chairman of Board of the Niger Delta Development Commission (NDDC), Lauretta Onochie has been suspended by the All Progressives Congress (APC) in her ward, Onicha Olona Ward 4, Aniocha North LGA of Delta State.
Onochie was suspended by the executives of the party in the ward, over her alleged anti-party activities during the 2023 General Elections in the ward.
A letter of suspension sighted by INFO DAILY, the party said that she was found campaigning for opposition candidates, especially the People’s Democratic Party (PDP).
The suspension letter signed by 28 Ward Executive members read:
LOSS OF CONFIDENCE AND SUSPENSION OF LORRETA ONOCHIE AS MEMBER OF THE ALL PROGRESSIVES CONGRESS(APC)IN ONICHA OLONA WARD 4,ANIOCHA NORTH LOCAL GOVERNMENT AREA. DELTA STATE
Wethe under listed are the ward executive members of the All Progressives Congress in Onicha-Olona ward 4,Aniocha LGA,Delta State. We have painstakingly reviewed the conduct of the just concluded general elections at all levels and have noted, with dismay, that Lorreta Onochie, who is one of the leaders of our great party, worked against the success of the party in Onicha-Olona Ward 4and beyond.

Information available to us show very clearly that she was openly campaigning for candidates of opposition parties, especially the People’s Democratic Party,in the run-up to the Presidential and National Assembly,as well as the Governorship and State House of Assembly Election. It was also observed that all her allies and supporters were working for the PDP in the state.
The evidence of this could be seen in the fact that the party lost in her polling unit(unit 8,ward 4)in the Presidential,Senatorial,House of Representatives,Governorship and State Assembly Elections. We also noted that she has failed to fulfill her financial obligations to the party and has never attended any ward&LGA meetings or other party engagements.
In the light of these grievous infractions discovered in her as stated in Article 21.2(i)(ii),we have lost confidence in her membership of the party and hereby suspend her from the party with immediate effect. Thank you
Lauretta Onochie.

In a 33-minute video obtained by our correspondent, Obi is seen addressing attendees, speaking on the country’s current challenges and highlighting how widespread poverty has hindered industrial growth.
Obi spoke about the potential of the North and emphasised the worsening poverty across the country, which has led to growing unease throughout the nation.
He said, “I have always said the North can change Nigeria. The greatest asset of this country is in the North…”

While the exact purpose and scope of the group remain unclear, it is believed to be a coalition platform being explored by northern political stakeholders in preparation for the 2027 presidential elections.
The meeting has drawn several prominent political figures, party leaders, and elder statesmen amid growing discussions of a possible grand coalition among opposition parties ahead of the next general elections.
Notable attendees include Rotimi Amaechi, Kashim Ibrahim-Imam, Yusuf Datti Baba-Ahmed, Adolphus Wabara, and Baba Chir Lawal, among others.

A high-level coalition meeting involving former Vice President Atiku Abubakar, Labour Party’s Peter Obi, former Rivers State Governor Rotimi Amaechi and others descended into chaos as delegates from Jigawa State disrupted the proceedings.
The ongoing coalition meeting at the Abuja Continental Hotel, organised by the National Political Consultative Group (North), was briefly disrupted following a disagreement over representation for Jigawa State.
Tensions rose when former Secretary to the Government of the Federation, Babachir Lawal, announced a delegate to speak for the state.

In protest, several Jigawa delegates stormed the stage, blocking the individual from speaking and insisting they would not be represented by those named.
As the confrontation escalated, security personnel, including members of the Nigerian Police, DSS, and private guards, quickly formed a protective barrier around key figures such as Atiku, Amaechi and others.
Calm was restored after several minutes of appeals, as Mustapha Lamido, son of former Jigawa State Governor Sule Lamido, along with another delegate, was chosen to speak on behalf of the state.
