JUST IN: Super Eagles Player Sentenced To Prison In Denmark

Super Eagles player, Akinkunmi Amoo, has been sentenced to a one-year prison term for allegedly assaulting three women in Denmark in an update that has caused confusion among football followers in Nigeria.

The trouble started in September 2022 when Amoo was arrested by police after being accused of assault.

He spent almost a month in custody before he was released on bail.

Afterward, the former Golden Eaglets star was charged with three more charges.

He was also accused of forcing himself on two women in his house.

According to reports on Punch and Pulse, the 2019 U-17 World Cup star was found guilty of all the charges and a dissenting magistrate sentenced him to one year of imprisonment.

The 21-year-old forward is also said not to be permitted to enter Denmark for at least six years after he completes a one-year jail term.

Amoo joined FC Copenhagen in Denmark from Hammarby in Sweden for a transfer fee worth €4.30 million on January 31, 2022. Since then, he has played four games and netted one goal.

The Super Eagles midfielder joined nine other nominees in the category of young players.

Other nominees include Ivory Coast’s Karim Konate, Jesus Owono of Equatorial Guinea, Burkina Faso’s Dango Ouattara, and James Gomez of the Gambia.

Kamaldeen Sulemana from Ghana, Ilaix Moriba of Guinea, Mali’s El Bilal Toure, Pape Matar Sarr of Senegal, and Tunisia’s Hannibal Mejbri are all nominated for the award as well.

EPL: Chelsea Set To Sanction First Summer Transfer Under Alonso

Chelsea are set to sanction their first summer transfer under their new manager, Xabi Alonso.

According to the BBC Sport, the Blues are ‘open’ to selling Filip Jorgensen this summer after the goalkeeper indicated his desire to leave Stamford Bridge.

Jorgensen joined the Premier League west London club two seasons ago from Villarreal.

The 24-year-old shot-stopper was expected to compete for the number one position with goalkeeper Robert Sanchez, but he made just 11 Premier League appearances over the two seasons.

However, while the arrival of Alonso to Stamford Bridge could lead to a change in fortunes for Jorgensen, the report added that the Danish star has already expressed his desire to leave Chelsea this summer to get more regular playing game-time elsewhere.

Chelsea had blocked a potential exit for Jorgensen in the January transfer window, but the Premier League west London club are now open to a sale, with European and English clubs expected to explore a deal for the goalkeeper.

Merson wants Arsenal to sign Atletico Madrid striker Julian Alvarez and a new midfielder.

Manchester United legend, Wayne Rooney, has picked the Red Devils defender Luke Shaw as the most improved player in the Premier League following the conclusion of the 2025/26 season.

Speaking on his BBC podcast, Rooney said, “I think, for me, Luke Shaw. I think Luke Shaw has been the most improved player this season.

“I know he is an experienced player now, but I think his level this season has been much better than it has been in recent seasons.
