NBA, Civil Society Members Fume Over Abducted Member In Edo

…Pass Vote Of No Confidence On Security Heads
…Call On IGP To Deploy Team To Investigate Case
Nigerian Bar Association (NBA), Benin Branch, and Edo Civil Society Organisation members have threatened to make citizen arrest of one ‘Chief Priest Nosaghaire Osadolor’ whom in connivance with his children allegedly abducted a NBA member, Osiobase Omo-Iyoha should security agencies fail to make an arrest on before Friday.
Addressing newsmen in Benin on Tuesday, Chairman, NBA Benin, Prince Collins Ogiegbaen, Esq. disclosed that Omo-Iyoha was abducted on May 9th, 2020 around 5pm at Aduwawa axis of Benin when he made an attempt to separate a man that was mercilessly beaten by Osadolor’s children.
He added that in the attempt to rescue this man from this family he described as threat to the society, Osadolor’s children left their victim and descended on the Barr., beat him to pulp before driving him to unknown place, adding that since then Omo-Iyoha whereabouts is unknown.

“On that faithful day which is the 9th of May, at 5:30pm at somewhere at Aduwawa Benin, Osiobase, being a lawyer saw the children of this man nicknamed Afro mercilessly beating up a man when the lawyer intervened to separate them so that the man could go his way, but they descended mercilessly on Omo-Iyoha, beat him to pulp and took him away, and from that day his whereabouts is unknown”, he said.
Ogiegbaen noted that if a family could be so powerful and terrorise an area and the government of the state could be mute without any action, there is impending danger to in the state.
The NBA Chairman, on behalf of his members called on the Inspector-General of Police, Muhammed Adamu to urgently deploy his response team to Benin to investigate the adoption of Omo-Iyoha with a view to arresting the culprits.
The NBA called on all security heads to immediately make an arrest of the culprits including Osadolor aka Afro, stressing that failure to do so would be forced the NBA to pass a vote of no confidence on them, including DPO, Aduwawa division for his unprofessional conduct.

“We call on all the heads of security in the state that is: the Commissioner of Police, Brigade Commander, 4th Brigade, Benin, Director of DSS in the state, to within 24hrs of this resolution, arrest the culprits including Osadolor aka Afro, and should they fail, the Bar will summon another meeting and pass a vote of no confidence on their capacity and professionalism to continue with this investigation.
“We also call on the governor of Edo State as the Chief Security Officer of the state to immediately summon a security meeting with the representatives of the Barr. and Civil Society Organisation members in attendance. The security of lives and property in the state is the sole responsibility of the government”, he said.
Speaking, Director-General Edo Civil Organisation (EDOCSO), Agho Omobude promised to lead his members to arrest Osodolor should security agencies fail to do so.

Also speaking, Public Relations Officer, EDOCSO, Osazee Edigin, called for the deployment of security heads should they fail to make an arrest of the culprits.

Transfer: Premier League Clubs Scramble For Dele-Bashiru
Lazio midfielder, Fisayo Dele-Bashiru is a subject of interest from three Premier League clubs, according to Sky Sports.

Xenophobic Attacks: Nigerian Students To Picket MTN, MultiChoice, Other Businesses
The leadership of the National Association of Nigerian Students, NANS South-West Zone D, has announced plans to picket South African companies in Nigeria following the ongoing xenophobic attacks in the country.
DAILY POST reports that some Nigerians were recently killed in South Africa over the violent attacks.
A statement issued to newsmen by Comrade Adeyemo Josiah Kayode, Coordinator, NANS South-West, Zone D, said that the association is mobilizing to take decisive and lawful action by organizing peaceful picketing and mass advocacy against South African business interests operating in Nigeria.

“We categorically state that the continued targeting of Nigerians under any guise is unacceptable and must come to an immediate end.
“This will include major corporations such as MTN Group and MultiChoice Group. It is morally indefensible for businesses to thrive in an environment where the lives of Nigerians are protected, while Nigerians are subjected to fear and violence elsewhere.
“This contradiction will no longer be tolerated,” the statement said.

N5m, N10m Zero-interest Loans: SheVentures Opens Applications For Women Entrepreneurs
First City Monument Bank (FCMB) has opened a new round of applications for its SheVentures proposition, offering zero-interest loans of up to ₦10 million to women entrepreneurs to ease access to working capital and support business growth.
The facility provides loans ranging from ₦500,000 to ₦5 million under a general category, and ₦5 million to ₦10 million for sector-specific businesses, with funding capped at up to 50% of an applicant’s average monthly turnover.
At the centre of the offering is a 0% interest rate, with all charges embedded in a transparent structure.
Repayment is structured over four or six months, allowing businesses to match obligations with their cash flow cycles.

Yemisi Edun, Managing Director and Chief Executive of First City Monument Bank (FCMB), said the initiative reflects a deliberate approach to inclusive growth.
