Nigerian Actor, Mr. Ibu Reacts After Being Allegely Poisoned

Actor, John Okafor, aka Mr Ibu, has said he is currently in the hospital after being poisoned for the third time in about three years.

Speaking with Saturday Beats from his hospital bed, Ibu said, “I just got poisoned again. It seems my enemies are using me to rehearse (their powers). This time, I wasn’t poisoned in the village. I was poisoned in Abuja last week at an entertainment event. I really cannot explain how I was poisoned because it was a gathering of people, though it was not a big event.”

Though he sounded weak, the actor maintained that he was getting better. He said, “I am recuperating, although I have neither worked out nor driven since I got ill. However, I intend to take a walk this (Friday) evening, because I am hopeful that I would get better. I am eating well now, and I’m prepared to go back on set any moment from now.”

Mr Ibu also bashed those soliciting for funds on his behalf without his consent. He said, “Some people have sold me. They have not heard from me and all they want to do is ‘sell me’. But, their plans won’t work because God has raised me up. I am not begging anybody for money. My condition is not as critical as some people are making it seem. Anybody who has made it a point of duty to talk about my sickness and take advantage of it should stop. I am here (hospital) with my wife. I am not saying all my friends that are supposed to visit me and bring me money cannot do that. But, I have never asked anyone to beg people for money on my behalf. They should stop. If I want to die, I would let them know, since they seem to be so interested.”

Back in 2019, the actor had alleged that some members of his staff were paid by his kinsmen to kill him because of his successful career.

Meanwhile, leaders of the Actors Guild of Nigeria paid a visit to Ibu at the Zenith Medical Centre, Abuja, on Friday.

Afrobeats singer, David Adeleke, popularly known as Davido, has revealed why he is no longer stable on social media.

Davido, who is the most-followed African artist on social media, insinuated that his marriage has forced him to limit his use of social media while responding to a fan who expressed worries over his recent absence from social media.

The fan wrote on X, “Davido never post for over 3 days now. I miss my idolo.”

Responding, the music star wrote, “When u marry u go understand.. lol”

Davido and his wife, Chioma Adeleke, held their white wedding ceremony in Miami, Florida, in August 2025.

The couple marked their one-month wedding anniversary on Thursday, September 11, 2025.

Chioma shared a short clip from their glamorous wedding as she expressed deep gratitude and happiness for the journey so far.

Davido responded with a heartfelt comment, describing their wedding day as “the best day ever.”

Veteran Nollywood actor Chiwetalu Agu has debunked reports making the rounds that he is dead, assuring fans that he is alive and well.

The actor, in a video shared via Instagram on Friday, urged his fans and family to ignore the false reports.

“Fans and family, please disregard any rumors about my death, and kindly report the page of the blogger who started spreading them. I am very much alive by God’s grace,” he said.

In the video, the actor introduced himself and reaffirmed his health, “Chief Chiwetalu Agu, okenmiri n’ezoru Oha 1 of Etiti Amokwe, Enugu State is not going to die anytime soon.

“Instead I will be the one to bury my enemies. Na who dig pit go fall inside. Na who dig grave go fall inside. I am yet to carry my grandchildren and I must carry them in good health when my children are ready.”

He stated further that if a major blogger had shared the false news, he would have considered legal action.

“If it were any of the big bloggers who carried the false information, I would have sued them for defamation, economic and business damage but the blogger involved is still struggling with likes,” he said.

Popular singer and activist, Charles Chukwuemeka Oputa, popularly known as Charly Boy, has announced that he is searching for a wife for his son.

In a post shared on X on Friday, Charly Boy disclosed that his son, who is 46 years old, holds a master’s degree and stands 5ft 11ins tall.

He noted that the son had been previously married but divorced, adding that he now seems afraid of women.

The entertainer said he is specifically seeking a woman from a “good home with humble beginnings”, stressing that only authentic graduates should apply.

He said: “My people,

E don marry once, divorce. Now, e be like say e dey fear woman.

He is coming next month.

Charly Boy added that his son, described as “very humble”, will be returning to Nigeria next month, and he hopes to “tie him to Nigeria” through marriage.
