Nigerian football fans took to social media on Wednesday to decry the shocking sack of Chelsea’s manager, Thomas Tuchel.

This was revealed in a statement issued by the club on its website.

The Premier League team said Chelsea’s coaching staff would take charge of the team for training and the preparation for upcoming matches.

“As the new ownership group reaches 100 days since taking over the Club, and as it continues its hard work to take the club forward, the new owners believe it is the right time to make this transition.

“Chelsea’s coaching staff will take charge of the team for training and the preparation of our upcoming matches as the Club moves swiftly to appoint a new head coach,” the statement read in part.

Reacting to the development, some Nigerian football fans took to the micro-blogging site, Twitter, to share their opinions on what the future holds for the Premier League club.

Sports journalist @PoojaMedia wrote, “Chelsea’s new owners SACKED Thomas Tuchel after losing in the Champions League. Brutal or maybe they never liked his face & results helped them to make the decision fast.

“Tuchel got the sack letter through mail in the bus on their way to the airport. From Croatia to Germany. Boehly no nice 🤣”

Another sports journalist, Oma Akatugba, @omaakatugba wrote, “Just landed in Rome and the first thing I see is that Chelsea have sacked Tuchel. Bloody hell. Football is a jungle.”

@4EyedLiwa said, “All said and done, with over 60% win ration in 100 matches, Thomas Tuchel’s era was a successful one at Chelsea.”

@_AsiwajuLerry wrote, “Dear Chelsea, the way you sack Thomas Tuchel is the same way you should send Kai Havertz out of my Club. They were both living on Champions League tax and you cannot sack one then leave one behind.

@Letter_to_Jack said, The new manager may not subscribe to Tuchel’s ideology and as such may not fancy some of the new players he bought. This does not end well for Chelsea.

@UtdEllis wrote, “The way Tuchel dealt with the Abramovic situation was absolutely incredible there was even more pressure on Chelsea as a football club then & they still came out of it okay because of him & then they go and sack him because of a few poor results LOl what a stupid football club. Graham Potter is a great manager but he’s not ready to manage a club the size of Chelsea.”

@gyaigyimii said, “😂Tuchel keeps repeating the same mistakes and expects different results.”

By

Chelsea legend, Petr Cech, has advised his old club on how to win the UEFA Champions League or the English Premier League.

Chelsea are already out of the Premier League title race this season, and they are at risk of missing out on UEFA Champions League qualification for next season because they are currently not in the ninth position on the Premier League table.

Speaking to The Athletic about Chelsea, Cech said that the Blues need to change their philosophy of signing only young players if they want to win the Premier League or Champions League.

According to the former goalkeeper, the Premier League west London club needs to add experienced players to mentor the young players in the squad.

“You have to look at what you want to achieve. You can have young, talented players, and you can win, but it’s very rare that you manage to do that,” he said.

If you want to win every season and compete every season, that does not go together.

You have to change your philosophy. Certain things don’t go together because, in order to win a Champions League or a Premier League… these are really tough competitions, and you have to be consistent.

“You need to have a strong core of the team. And then you can bring young, talented players who will grow faster and then will be held by the experienced players to help navigate them through difficult times when they come.”

Currently, Chelsea have just one player, Tosin Adarabioyo, who is over 28 this season, and the defender has not been playing regularly.
