Night Of Queens: What To Expect At Big Musical Showdown

Nigerian queens of Afro-pop, including Tiwa Savage, Teni the entertainer, Simi, Waje, Niniola, Yemi Alade, Dope Ceaser among others are gearing up for a showdown as they perform at the highly anticipated “Night of Queens” concert slated for Sunday, December 17, at Eko hotels and Suites, Lagos.

The all-female concert, being packaged by Livewire Concerts, an international entertainment company in Nigeria is a celebration of the country’s musical powerhouses.

Themed “A Night of Queens”, the first of its kind concert will have an all-female lineup take the stage to showcase their incredible talent and diversity of Nigeria’s female music scene.

According to Seyi Sodimu, a Night of Queens concert is more than just a musical performance, it’s a celebration of female excellence and a testament to the groundbreaking achievements of these remarkable artistes.

Each of the female artists has made significant contributions to the Nigerian music scene, inspiring other women to aspire for greatness.

The concert promises a diverse musical medley, showcasing the unique styles and sounds that have made these songstresses household names in Nigeria and beyond.

From Tiwa Savage’s captivating Afropop to Teni’s infectious melodies, Simi’s soulful vocals to Waje’s powerful voice, Niniola’s vibrant energy to Yemi Alade’s electrifying performances, and Dope Ceaser’s captivating blend of genres, the audience is in for an unforgettable experience that will leave them wanting more.

Tiwa Savage’s fans can’t wait to see what their musical idol will bring to the stage, after her electrifying performance at the coronation of HRH King Charles.

Like Tiwa Savage, Yemi Alade, Waje and Teni are expected to bring down the roof with their energetic performances and perhaps, leave a lasting impression on the minds of the audience.

Particularly, the ‘Johnny’ crooner, whose sound draws from many African styles, is expected to captivate the audience with her energy and talent. Already, the whole city of Lagos is reverberating ahead of the concert date.

In an Instagram post, Sodimu described the concert as “a spectacular night with some of Nigeria’s biggest female stars, alongside some of the hottest female DJs and entertainers.”

Kehinde Bankole has emerged as the Best Lead Actress at the ongoing 2024 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA).

Bankole’s win came off her lead role in the movie ‘ADIRE’.

Other contestants in the category include: Segilola Ogidan (Over the Bridge), Lucie Debay (Omen)

Omowunmi Dada (Asiri Ade), Ireti Doyle (The Origin: Madam Koi Koi), Adaobi L. Dibor (Blood Vessel)

Evelyne Ily (Mami Wata) and Funke Akindele (A Tribe Called Judah).

In the male category, Wale Ojo emerged Best Male lead actor for his role in the movie ‘Breath of Life’.

Ojo edged Stan Nze (Afamefuna), Marc Zinga (Omen), Gideon Okeke (Egun), David Ezekiel (Blood Vessel), Richard Mofe Damijo (The Black Book), Adedimeji Lateef (Jagun Jagun – The Warrior) and Gabriel Afolayan (This is Lagos) to win the award.

Comedian Isaac Ayomide Olayiwola popularly known as Layi Wasabi has won the Best Digital Content Creator at the ongoing 2024 Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA).

Layi’s content on Medical Negligence saw him nick the award.

Layi mounted the stage, and in his usual hilarious style, entertained the audience at the event while delivering his speech in appreciation of the award.

“Thank you, MultiChoice, for granting me this award among multiple contestants,” he said.

The Best Digital Content category shines a spotlight on the flourishing world of online entertainment, showcasing the talents of creators who have captivated audiences through their entertaining, exciting, and creative content.

Other nominees in this list include “National Treasure” by Adebola Adeyela (Lizzy Jay); “Hello Neighbour” by Elozonam Ogbolu, Lina Idoko, and Jemima Osunde; and “The Boyfriend” by Maryam Apaokagi-Greene

AMVCA: Jagun Jagun Wins ‘Best Costume Design’ As Mami Wata Grabs ‘Best Makeup’

The 10th edition of Africa Magic Viewers Choice Awards (AMVCA) kicked off on Saturday night with Femi Adebayo’s Jagun Jagun clinching the Best Costume Design title.

Similarly, Campbell Precious Arebamen of ‘Mami Wata’ movie crew won the ‘Best Make Up’ category award.

The make-up artiste defeated Francesca Otaigbe, Hadizat Gambo of Mojiisola movie, Hakeem Onilogbo of Jagun Jagun, and Feyisayo Oyebisi of A Tribe Called Judah.

The award is the first in the series presented by popular TV anchor Ebuka Obi-Uchendu, and Kehinde Bankole.

Speaking to the media, Campbell Precious Arebamen said she was so elated and thanked her director for helping her. She noted that this was her second award at the AMVCA.
