As the 2025 National Sports Festival draws closer, the Executive Chairman, Edo State Sports Commission, Hon. Amadin Desmond Enabulele, has charged Team Edo to aim for top honours in the national games.
Enabulele gave the charge in Benin on Thursday during a meeting with coaches from various sports and stakeholders in preparation for the fiesta scheduled to hold in Ogun State later this year.
The sports commission boss, while stating that he conveyed the meeting to assess the preparation for the Ogun games, noted that the aim of the meeting was to get feedback from the coaches, and to assess their current strengths and challenges of the athletes as the state continues preparation for the competition.

Enabulele was quoted in a statement issued by his media aide, Edoko Wilson Edoko as saying: “We are not just going to the festival to participate; we are going to win medals.
“It will not be business as usual because our amiable Governor, Senator Monday Okpebholo, is deeply committed to advancing sports in Edo State.”
He stressed that success is a collective responsibility, urging coaches to deliver tangible results commensurate with the state government’s and the sports commission’s commitment and resources invested.
Enabulele encouraged the coaches to do their very best in preparing the athletes in their care for the festival.

“Our core mandate, in line with the vision of Governor Monday Okpebholo and Deputy Governor Rt. Hon. Dennis Idahosa, is to restore Edo State’s prominence in sports at both national and international levels,” Enabulele emphasized.
