NSF: Edo Sports Commission Chairman Visits Event Centres, Expresses Satisfaction

The Executive Chairman of the Edo State Sports Commission (ESSC), Hon. Amadin Desmond Enabulele has expressed satisfaction with the organization and smooth running of South South zonal elimination (Ball games qualifiers) for the National Sports Festival, hots up in Benin

He also commended team Edo athletes’ performances so far.

The Edo State Sports Commission boss gave the commendation when he visited athletes across all the events centres in Benin.

He embarked on a tour of all the venues, including Wire Road, St. Maria Goretti Girls’ College, Adolor College, and the Crescent Sports Club on Iriri Road.

He expressed satisfaction with Team Edo athletes performance so far as they continue to participate in the ongoing South-South zonal Elimination Games across various venues in Benin City.

He heaped praise on them for their dedication and sportsmanship .

“It is quite encouraging to see our athletes giving their best and showcasing their skills on this significant platform,” he said.

“You are not just representing Edo State; you are ambassadors of the South-South region. Your efforts today will pave the way for future successes,” he added.

Hon. Enabulele expressed optimism about the chances of team Edo qualifying in most of the games to represent the zone in Ogun Games, noting the importance of the elimination games as a stepping stone to the National Sports Festival.

NPFL: Bendel Insurance Announce Departure Of 25 Players

Bendel Insurance have announced the departure of 25 players ahead of the 2025/26 Nigeria Premier Football League, NPFL, season.

Captain Meyiwa Oritseweyinmi, Austin Ogunye, and Bernard Ovoke are among the top stars who have left the Benin Arsenal.

Other key players, who left the club are Moses Abioye, Uche Collins, Michael Enaruna, and Uche Collins.

The Benin City club are expected to make new signings to replace the departed players before the commencement of the new campaign.

Insurance finished in a respectable fifth position last season with 56 points from 38 games.

Nigerian football icon Jay-Jay Okocha recently hosted his former Super Eagles coach, Clemens Westerhof, at his Lagos home.

Westerhof, who posted photos from the visit on Instagram on Friday, called it an “unforgettable night of my life” and thanked Okocha for his warm hospitality.

Westerhof, a Dutch national, managed the Nigerian national team from 1989 to 1994.

Transfer: Atalanta Hold Lookman Back From Inter Milan Move

Nigerian forward Ademola Lookman has again told his Italian side, Atalanta, about his desire to leave this summer.

The camp of the Super Eagles’ forward conveyed the player’s decision to the club on Tuesday after Inter presented a written proposal of €42m plus €3m add-ons.

Atalanta are insisting on €50m valuation for the Nigerian international and there is no green light to the move as of now, according to football transfer expert, Fabrizio Romano.
