NWFL Super Six: Edo Queens Beat Naija Ratels 2-0, Enabulele Hails Team

Defending champions Edo Queens Football Club, Tuesday defeated Naija Ratels 2-0 to record their first victory in the ongoing NWFL Super Six tournament in Ikenne, Ogun State.

Goal poacher Emem Essien’s master class brace gave Edo Queens a deserved maximum points and put them back in the Super six tournament

Emem Essien, who has grown into a reliable source of goals for the Benin Queens in the attack scored the first goal in the 26th minute of action and netted the second in the 37th minute to announce their presence in Ikenne.

The 2-0 triumph over Naija Ratels is Edo Queens’ first victory and their third game of the Super six championship campaign.

Edo Queens who lost their first match 1-0 to the hosts, Remo Stars Ladies on Saturday, drew 1-1 with Rivers Angels in their second game on Monday afternoon, and went on to beat Naija Ratels 2-0 in the third match of the Campaign .
The Benin-based ladies will be going back to prepare better ahead of the games against Bayelsa Queens and Nasarawa Amazons who are their next opponents respectively.

Edo Queens’ win over Naija Ratels, no doubt will serve as a morale booster for the players ahead of the titanic clashes against Bayelsa Queens and Nasarawa Amazons on Thursday May,15th and Friday 16th respectively.

In other matches played today, Nasarawa Amazons beat Rivers Angels 2-1 just as Bayelsa Queens spank Remo Stars Ladies 2-0.

Meanwhile, the Executive Chairman, Edo State Sports Commission Hon. Amadin Desmond Enabulele, commended the players for their victory over Naija Ratels.

He charged them to keep the winning mentality on, adding that beating Bayelsa Queens and Nasarawa Amazons in the last two matches will put them in pole position on winning the trophy back -to – back.”

He also pledges more supports and incentives for the team.
