OAP Sydney Shocker, Bags Village Meeting Award

An On Air Personality (OAP) with the Independent Television and Radio, Benin, Sydney Iyore also known as Sydney Shocker has bagged The Village Meeting Award (TVMA).

The award was organized by Maazi Entertainment.

Sydney who has made his mark in the radio and tv as a presenter/producer of hot current gists in the entertainment industry, described the award as one of the best awards ever received.

He said the reason was that he never knew the organizers of the event or was the award influenced by either internal or external forces rather it was meritoriously earned.

“This award is very close to my heart because i never got to know the nominators of the award. They did their research and at the end, I was nominated. Nobody influenced the voting process.

“The credibility of the award really thrilled me”

The AOP and broad-actor who has also featured in a movie series titled”Enakhe” where he played a major role, said he has had several reasons to have turned down quantum of nominations of awards because of the way and manner the so-called organizers went about getting their nominees but that the organizers of the TVMA have set a standard for other organizers to follow.

Chubby and bearded Shocker who has put over decade of his years into the media profession as an OAP, advised artistes to leverage on the social media to push their brands and carve a niche for themselves rather than living in the ancient days.

Grammy Announces Date For 2027 Awards Nominations

The Recording Academy, the organizers of the Grammy Awards, has announced the dates for the 2027 edition of its awards ceremony and nominations.

The organizers revealed the date on Tuesday during an upfront presentation in New York.

Nominations will be announced November 16, 2026, with eligible albums having been released between August 31, 2025, and August 28, 2026.

The Grammy awards ceremony will be held on February 7, 2027.

The ceremony will be aired live from Crypto.com Arena in Los Angeles on ABC and will stream on Disney+ and Hulu.

The development is a break from the Grammy’s 54 consecutive years partnership with CBS.

Also announcing the news on its Instagram page, Grammy, wrote: “IT’S TIIIIIME! The road to the 2027 Grammys officially begins now. Mark your calendars for submissions, nominations, voting, and all the key moments leading up to Music’s Biggest Night. Grammy Season.”

Famous Nollywood actor, Alex Ekubo, is dead.

A Nollywood source, who does not wish to be named, informed DAILY POST that Alex was rushed to the hospital on Monday.

The source said the actor had been battling kidney cancer

The actor passed away on Tuesday afternoon after spending hours on life support.

Alex was rumoured to be suffering from serious health issues in May 2025 after months of social media disappearance.

A check confirmed that Ekubo’s last social media post was on December 30, 2024.

Nigerian record producer and music executive Michael Collins Ajereh, popularly known as Don Jazzy, has named alternative rock singer Johnny Drille as his best musician.

The Mavin boss said Johnny Drille’s music is unique, stressing that he is a complete musician.

Speaking in a recent episode of the Crea8torium podcast, Don Jazzy claimed that Johnny Drille has no rival in the Nigerian music industry.

“If you look at the Nigerian music industry right now, there is nobody like Johnny Drille. He is in a world of his own. He is like the best musician – the complete musician that I know. He is versatile. He mix, write, sing. He does everything.

“He is also an amazing performer – the way he sounds in the studio is the same way he sounds in live shows,” he said.
